A. I'm a little confused at the wording so let me reword what I said. If you have renewable energy sources on your property in NY they will no longer pay you/reduce your bill to produce that power on your property. I mean, heating your house is still viable in this case...

B. If you are in support of what I said, then yeah, it's bullstuff. We need more incentives to go to renewable sources of energy but being like, "Let's just leech off of everyone trying to do this mega investment that takes ages to pay off", is nothing but complete and absolute starfishry and middle finger to anyone trying to "go green" or reduce their strain on the grid.

No, but our legal system is set up to deal with different degrees of infractions, hence why the system exists so it can't be abused to abuse minor crimes with impunity.  If we did so and didn't cognize tiers of crimes, then there is little to guard us from becoming a police state.

i disagree; implementing policies to enforce this would be effective censorship. the government isn't going to punish its citizens for having the wrong beliefs, why, in principle, should we punish immigrants for it? it's wrong in both cases.
