I think talking about arming teachers is about as helpful to the conversation as the people who try to discuss banning guns

It's just so out of the question for the other side there's literally no point trying to bring it up because they'll just shut down and tell you to forget off
i made that post specifically in response to red spy since i thought he was a conservative and would support some way of arming schools, but i guess hes really just a naysayer more than anything

i do agree its helpful and definitely a policy worth considering. idk why red spy implies he doesnt think so.

Why not just place a cop in each sch-

one cop's cowardice doesnt mean the whole idea is bad. just like how one cop's racism and brutality doesnt speak for all cops either. either he was more cowardly than he expected, or it wasn't part of his job description and so didn't expect nor want to put his life on the line.

you can play the morality card on him and stuff on him not wanting to risk his life for kids, but a lot of people dont always act humanely or heroically when thrown into a situation unexpectedly. usually people react better when prepared for it, ie "you may have to risk your life as part of this job, are you willing to do this?"

wasn't it four cops tho

i should finish my posts before posting, since you made that prior to me editing in my second line. and its still a one-off thing: im almost 100% certain that the police officer at my high school would have tried to take down an active shooter if one showed up on campus. he was a great guy who cared very deeply about kids and helping them.

My post was a joke. I don't believe that most cops would do this.

because it's a loving handicapped idea that doesn't even pretend to prevent school shootings?

Maybe you should have started off with that, instead of your incredibly vague and sarcastic post that you made earlier

but these are cops, literally their job is to risk their lives to protect other people. they were prepared for it in training. if they are not mentally prepared for it personally then they shouldn't have even applied for the job. it's an unacceptable failure on their part. they were put into this position to protect people, as the only people there who could, and they made a conscious decision not to do so. there is really no excuse. it's one thing if we're talking about random armed citizens. but we're not

please forgive me

If you're going to get mad at people not understanding your point, maybe you should like, get the point more often? I don't know what you're trying to do here lol

I am very confused

I am very confused

It seems he was also confused when trying to understand what red spy meant. It appears this was all one big misunderstanding.

Im going to bed this is hurting my brain

i'm not mad?

fair point. i mixed up standard fare security guards with school cop, forgot that school police officers are actually part of the force and not just a schmuck with a cop uniform.

given thats the case i'd chalk it up to either the less brave officers getting the "safe" jobs like being a school cop, or bad training for that police district. given that cops later showed up on the scene to respond to the scene, those people appear definitely not too cowardly to do their job.
