no jvs is borked
There is a magical word, my dear friend. This magical word is called "opinion". (sorry if this sounds threatening, honestly it's not)

Reason why I said it's borked (broken) because there's many things wrong with it. Badspot explained how JVS causes issues.

it's seriously broken not just bad

Reason why I said it's borked (broken) because there's many things wrong with it. Badspot explained how JVS causes issues.
Problems with JVS doors:

  • 16 events to open a door.
  • Horrible AIM sounds
  • A "jvs" tab instead of being in the special/interactive tab where they belong
  • Backwards loop structure that causes the brick loading times to increase for all bricks for each jvs door that you have installed.  If you have 50 JVS doors installed, you're looking at a 10x increase in loading times.  This alone is reason to remove it from the game permanently.  I regret not CRC failing when I discovered this issue years ago.
  • Overly complicated door blocking system that requires a taxing container radius search every time someone opens a door.  Door disabling can easily be implemented via toggleEventEnabled or setRayCastingEnabled.
  • Overly complicated ID restriction system that serves no purpose except providing yet another way for power starved pre-teens to give themselves special privileges over other users so they can have some semblance of empowerment in their otherwise impotent lives.

Pretty sure there was a fix for JVS that solved all of Badspot's complaints with them; really helpful for those who don't feel like being forced to use the new brick doors.

Also I really wish I could say Gamemode_Zombie and Gamemode_ZAPT were the best add-ons. But they haven't been fixed or updated in forever. One because the creator is making games instead of fixing their mod, the other because the creator got banned forever (also his house burned down). Would be really nice to get a functional zombie mod with zombie ability variety and built-in director system again.

Or a black ops zombie mod.
:)

1. PTG (This should be made a default add-on)
2. New duplicator (This should be made a default add-on)
3. film bots (this should be made a default add-on)
4. Tier + tactical
5. Brick tessellation
6. Enhanced graphics
7. GSF's modular terrain bricks
8. newtonian camera
9. VCE
10. all of leetlegacy's brick packs

Out of all of the add-ons I use, I use the new dupe the most since I do not have to completely isolate a set of bricks in order to duplicate it.

Also,

I think that Support_LegacyDoors does this. I believe this is a default add-on, so you should not need to look for it.

JVS was good back when there were no default doors, but once the simple ones by Badspot were introduced they became kind of useless.

JVS was once the official doors of Blockland? Not the simplistic now default ones?

No. They were just popular doors that everyone used.

I still think JVS doors are better than the default doors. I find listening to a door actually opening more satisfying than opening a door and hearing a brick turning. But hey, that's just me. I prefer JVS doors to any other door.

Well, some of us here don't like to clutter our servers needlessly, as well as provide the best experience possible to our visitors. So in some ways, JVS could be a liability.
