It combines simplicity with customization. That doesn't make it the most customizable.
Please explain further.

Telling someone to use gentoo because it's customizable is like telling someone that they should use a skateboard instead of a car because it's customizable. Nice try kiddo, but you ain't fooling us.

telling more than likely non-linux-savvy users to use gentoo/arch regardless just because it's ~~customizable~~ is stupid as hell

???

I never said you should use Gentoo.  Arch Linux is an awesome system, the original argument was about Gentoo being the most customizable, not the more quickly implemented of the two or the most user-friendly.

Each article clearly explains why Gentoo is more customizable, but anything other than that is just bonus information.

Arch Linux and Gentoo are very similar systems built on the same architecture and with a similar philosophy.  Arch Linux can do a lot of what Gentoo can do in a much more user-friendly manner, and that's great.  It's very stable, there is no argument about that.  However, it is not as adaptable and customizable as Gentoo as the first article on the top of my post explains.

As far as I know, Gentoo is much better to use in the long run if you are willing to go through the terrible Mordor of compiling the entire thing, though there is a command to automatically construct a lot of it.

Lol, caught that ninja.
Yep, sorry about that.

Go ahead, but I doubt it will help the original argument, though I'm ready to change opinion.

sheesh, all the talk about Win10 is kinda making me want to not install it on my desktop with Win7 on it already.

You really don't want to install windows 10.  I have it on my laptop, and I can vouch that Win7 is a lot more stable.

I still have Win 8.1 on my desktop out of morbid fear of upgrading and having everything turn to pot (which happened)

EDIT:  As a power user, Windows 10 just makes it more like an app-station rather than a workstation.  It makes all the basic gutsy windows functions difficult to get to, even hiding some of them.

I have Win10 and I'm not complaining. I disabled all of the bloat I don't want and will never use. Much faster than when I had Win7. Boots faster, stabilizes faster, hibernate actually hibernates instead of closing everything 50% of the time. The only thing I noticed that bothers me is that memory is dumped on the pagefile sooner than in Win7 so switching from a game to Firefox after a while of playing, Firefox gets reloaded from the drive which takes its time.

Yeah, I have a laptop with Win10 and its definitely not that great

there was this loving farmville notification that kept on popping up every time I started up my laptop until I eventually deleted the game since it was installed by default for whatever reason.

pretty sure that was just fault of plain old bloatware on your laptop, not windows 10.

Mostly this. Manufacturers love to preload tons of bullstuff onto prebuilt computers. If you had installed Windows 10 yourself you'd see like 90% of that problem dissipate.

I've installed it myself on a new drive and can confirm that it works flawlessly. I did upgrade one of my computers, an HP laptop, and I need to wipe it and reinstall it. It's unstable as forget thank's to HP's bullstuff software.
