Author Topic: Raisable "Pets"?  (Read 6062 times)

Here's an idea that I wanted to share with you guys for a long time, that I think is pretty cool, but due to my newness (back than) you would have totally flamed me for.

Blocko Pets

Yes, it sounds kinda dumb, but here's an interesting idea; Why don't you have little "pets", which are basically bots, that you can train, raise, and breed? I thought it'd bring an interesting new dimension of gameplay to Blockland; Whenever you're not killing each other with bombs or building something, you're raising your pet to do battle with other pets, or fight in deathmatches along side you, and are controlled and spawned on other servers via the Pet GUI, which is basically the control panel for 'em. Obviously, the pets would only be spawnable on servers that have the pet mod installed.

So I thought of a pet system a while ago, and here's how it works; Fighting in deathmatches, building blocks, or doing something along those lines in front of a pet that's currently in play (In the world somewhere) and it "learns" how to do that better; For instance, if you shoot at someone during a DM, and your kill him or her, the active pet learns how to aim and deathmatch better. At the top levels, it'll aim like a player with an aimbot and be able to move the instant it fires, but at the lower levels (Just created) it'll shoot wildly, and react slowly in a deathmatch, if fired at.  And when you build, every brick placed adds a bit to their "Intelligence" level, which slowly unlocks more Pet Command in the pet GUI, which will obviously be needed.

Also, it should be noted that pets can appear in other games, but if it's not your server, only one pet can be in game at any time, and when you leave the server, they go with you.

Feel free to pitch around comments and ideas. I was in a rush when I typed this and may have screwed up some crap.

I like this, I may code this on my week off starting Thursday.

Didnt Pickle make the baby mod? somebody could edit the addon, and make some sort of animal model packs for it,and add the things you said above
I might make a blocko styled dog in blender..
Terror,i might help you with the pet models if your going to need some

There's a baby LAUNCHER now.

Another idea to make; As the days go by, they slowly grow from barely [0.1 0.1 0.1] to [1 1 1] in size; wider or thinner if they are "gorged" on food items. Obviously this doesn't have to be included, but if it does, make sure to put a "feed" button on the GUI that clears you bricks and feeds 'em to your pet, and pet "Health" that deteriorates over time if it doesn't get any bricks.

Building on that idea is breeding, in which you get a male pet and a female pet together in a place. After they're there for long enough, they mate and produce two newborn pets, and die; The newborns have the combined stats of the parents, minus 10%.

This sounds possible. It sounds good too. I mean, I wouldn't use it at all, but who am I to say that no one is going to use it?

There's a bug were they sometimes get a scale of 0. I'm too lazy to fix.

Close, but not what I ment.

A mod that goes by the owner's system clock and grows client-side would be nice, I suppose.

Imma make a client side version of baby mod, except it'll all have to be done in a gui.
