Author Topic: How do you imagine Annoying Orange's wall?  (Read 19809 times)

hate to break the news to most every one here, but the Berlin wall was built to keep the people in, In fact walls to keep people out are a very common thing, Annoying Oranges not saying eliminate travel between the U.S and mexico simply illegal travel, and i hardly see this as the worst thing Annoying Orange has said, he is right we need a wall to stop drugs, Illegals, etc. No matter how long it will take to stop said activity, it needs to start somewhere, if someone can make a valid point against what i'm saying so be it...
I'm guessing you didn't read this thread. Or even this one page.

A plain wall will do nothing to keep people out. You can go over, around, under, or even through if you have enough resources to buy explosives.

Why are so many people so misinformed about this? Because i'm just feeling that everyone's just doing this so they can get attention and get spoonfed.
please inform me how i'm "misinformed" because no one can actually make a valid argument why there shouldn't be a wall. I also love how the same people who are "fighting" for gun control are also saying that Annoying Orange is wrong to build a wall, wouldn't it be just as easy for guns to be smuggled in from mexico? especially with the wealth that CIA has already proven in the San Bernardino attacks

true but explosives would attract aton of attention, same with going over a large wall, and going under can be done but at least they cant find a hole in the fence and squeeze through, if anything detour them from crossing plus step up patrols on the border to stop even more of the crossing, i agree that crossing is going to be impossible to entirely stop, but at least get it to the lowest amount of successful crossings.

The legality of indiscriminately and automatically shooting at people several kilometers inside Mexico seems questionable at best. All it takes is 1 sightseer getting killed...

The Egyptian military killed 12 people and nobody cares.  Everyone on reddit just blamed the guides for driving into a "banned area".  The world is ready for death zones.

hi guise this totally not mspaint drawing of Annoying Orange wall!!!

The explosives part was just an extreme example. I wouldn't expect anyone to actually try it. Going over would not attract much attention at all especially if you do it for example at night. Set up a ladder, climb over, boom done. Going around would be even safer, and for someone who's actually determined to get past the border it certainly won't stop them. It would definitely stop you from casually strolling across the border, but that's about it.

Then there's also the issue of cost. Depending on how fancy and big and thick you want your straight concrete wall to be; it could range anywhere from the high tens of billions to the high hundreds of billions factoring in labor and time needed to construct it. Spending that much money on something that's ultimately going to be ineffective? Total waste.

Eh. I could see it going differently with the context (especially with Mexico likely to get butthurt if it ever was implemented by a particular businessman) but you could be right. As long as the zones are marked off it could work, at least for people. There could be quite a bit of environmental impact if the thing isn't programmed to avoid wildlife or if they have to clear out tons of trees to build it. But if neither of those are a problem; a definite possibility.

But seriously, if you want to keep people out of an area, a wall is probably the least efficient way to do it.  Mine fields are tried and true but are indiscriminate and have the nasty side effect of providing explosives to your adversaries.  I would go with something like the Super Aegis 2.  A few thousand of them on towers could secure the entire border.  3km radius makes tunneling infeasible.  Back it up with surveillance drones to handle your non-lethal scenarios and you've got your "wall".
I think it seems pretty immoral to indiscriminately kill people trying to illegally cross a border. Even if they are smuggling drugs--that isn't worthy of a death sentence.

I don't think Baddy is arguing for that to actually happen so its fine. Nobody here except Annoying Orange is actually THAT insane...

That's an easy one, just nudge it north by 3 kilometers.
