Author Topic: Nintendo to kill off Wii U this year  (Read 4068 times)

Worldwide, the Vita has sold less if I'm not mistaken. A lot of sources citing the Vita outranking the Wii U are from 2013, but it's really shaky. VGChartz lists the Vita to have sold more, while Wikipedia lists the Wii U selling more.

Anyone can edit a wikipedia article. Fanboys do it all the time by making the numbers seem higher so they can brag to their friends about it.

Rather, the Wikipedia hasn't updated the numbers recently insteada what you said, I think they're the same since the last time I checked a few months ago.

Nintendo should stick with hand helds.

The missed the opportunity by not having a 3DS as the wii-u controller instead.

Look at that, all those jokes about the Vita being dead and the Wii-U being better than the vita.

The Vita has outlived the Wii-U. Vita even sells higher than Wii-U.

vita sucks man. please just accept it

...Because I'm able to do that with Wii games?
Wii discs are DVD-based, so it's easy to read. Wii U discs are a proprietary format and from a short search, it appears no one has been able to dump from the discs directly yet. All Wii U dumps have been made using the console.

How so?

very small amount of console exclusive actually relevant games (unless i'm wrong but i don't remember any good vita-exclusive releases so far)

How so?
Few exclusive games, an underutilized back screen, and it's very pricy for a handheld. People (reasonably) expect handhelds to be priced lower than consoles, and the Vita wasn't.

It wasn't, on its own, a bad piece of hardware. But the price and fact that everyone already had a 3DS meant it failed to sell and thus failed to get any good games.

Also, damn Nintendo, didn't you just announce a bunch of games?

All disc based nintendo systems use proprietary formats that are based on already existing formats.
Gamecube: miniDVD
Wii: DVD
Wii U: Blu-ray

However, they are all different enough that you can't just put a disc into a standard drive and copy the game's files, you'd have to create a specific program.

Looks like someone bought a vita at launch, and now is upset at it's complete failure.

No they aren't
I'm actually relived,  I know nintendo isn't stupid enough to quickly kill off a system.

Wii U: Blu-ray
Gonna need a valid source on that one. People have only rumored that it's similar at most, but nothing confirm.

Similar specs do not imply that they are the same. You can take two processors that have similar specs, but they will never work with the same code. The actual structure of the data on the disc is what matters.
