Author Topic: Bible Prophecy Overview  (Read 24174 times)

gsf i think you're super rad but posting this on the blf of all things prolly wasnt the greatest decision
someone is bound to start an arguement or derail the thread
I knew that posting this thread would lead to insults, arguments, etc. lol, but with everything going on lately this is just too important of a topic not to discuss. From what I've read however, it seems like most of the posts have been open, honest discussion.

Counter-argument: Mark 13:32
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Since you made a prediction about the return of Jesus, and you're not the Father, it is impossible that you're right.
I love reading stuff like this especially since it does seem to be aligning with prophecies. At the same time though, like SeventhSandwich posted, trying to figure out when the doomsday is coming is pretty much pointless since Jesus apparently doesn't even know.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events
It's true that we can't know the day or hour, but I never mentioned a date or even a particular timeframe due to that very reason. Honestly, I don't know exactly when things are going to take place, I just know that it's very close. We can however know the season, and we are definitely in it:

Quote from: Matthew 24:32–33
From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, cat the very gates.

this is pretty neato stuff
There is so much more that could be posted as well. =) Such as the blood moon tetrads and how they are warnings from God (the moon / lunar eclipses represent the Jewish people because their calendar is based on the moon, and the sun / solar eclipses represent the gentiles because our calendars are based off the sun), the Jewish feasts being prophetic and symbolic of future events to be finally fulfilled by Christ, parallels between the rapture and Jewish wedding customs, previous blood moon tetrads falling on Jewish holy feast days and indicating significant events in the past, etc.

And that's how we know that if God is really loving then hell is either a product of the church and has nothing to do with the original scriptural writings, or God is a total richard.

Hell is the hardest thing for me to wrap my mind around people believing in it. If God is love, and death was Adam and Eve's punishment, why would God change his mind and cast people into an eternal lake of fire to a suffer endlessly? It's just not just.
Hell is a very controversial topic for sure, but it's important to mention that Hell wasn't made for us, it was made for the angles that fell when they rebelled against God:

Quote from: Matthew 25:41
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

Also, Hell wasn't designed to hold the amount of people that it does today; God has to continually expand it as more people enter:

Quote from: Isaiah 5:14
"Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure . . ."

Mankind was given a way out, and God has gone through extremes to prevent anyone from going there; He poured out the punishment that we deserved on His own Son so that we can be completely free. He is also long-suffering, waiting patiently and temporarily enduring sin and injustice so that as many people can be saved as possible. God grieves when He sends people to Hell, but He is just and can't deny Himself - if He ever stopped sending people there He would be unjust and thus imperfect. This verse really captures God's heart, not just for Israel but for all of the unsaved:

Quote from: Ezekiel 33:11
"Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?'"

What makes one religion or even denomination more true than another?

I can't put faith in something that has no real results.

I'm living in the now.

Spending my sundays in devotion to someone I never met is even too much for me. Especially when I'll go to hell no matter what.

all western religions are very similar
judaism islam and christianity all have very similar if not the same roots

hence the word "faith"
why do people not understand that

they are abramhamic religions

Again which one is the absolute truth? What makes some Western Religion more true than some religion of a tribe in South America or Asia?

Because it's asking a lot for people in first world countries.

It may make sense for third world countries but doesn't make much sense in first world countries.
