What is Total War?
Total War is a strategy-game in which you own a nation, help the economy, make alliances/trade and declare war, they've been active for 15 years now and have a huge fanbase.

Ok, but what's Warhammer?
Warhammer is also a strategy game, but with a mythical setting and is played on a board, owned by Games Workshop in the UK, they have been active for almost 2 decades.

Now that you know what Total War and Warhammer is, lets look at the Core Factions, Factions that will be in the game at the start:

All Factions in purple will most likely be/or are confirmed to be a future DLC

The Empire: One of the Core Factions, the Empire has a huge Roster to choose from when a player is making an army, ranging from Gryffin Cavalry all the way to Rocket Batteries, these are foes not to be taken lightly.

Concept Art/In-game Images:

The Dwarves: Allies of The Empire, enemies of The Greenskins, these small-folk have probably the best armor and defense in the Warhammer Universe, though they lack magic entirely they make up for that with gyrocopters and artillery. Their only weakness is probably their lack of mobility and magic, so these foes will be a pain to deal with in the campaign.

Concept Art/In-game Images:

The Greenskins: Probably the most ignorant Faction of all, The Greenskins are a race based from spores (yeah don't ask me about that part) ranging from little snorklings all the way to the big bad Orcs, they have a very huge variety of units to choose from, ranging from Orcs carrying battleaxes all the way to goblins launching themselves out of catapults with wings strapped on hoping to crash into the enemy army, though they might be terrible at fighting they make up for that with their large numbers.

Concept Art/In-game Images:

The Vampire Counts: An army of the undead who never run from battle can have some pretty big bonuses, being in the world of Warhammer there will be plenty of battlefields bulging with corpses to fill your army, however, if the vampire, necromancer keeping your army standing dies, your army will slowly crumble, while a majority of the units in this faction are rather weak, they make up for it with their variety of monsters.

Concept Art/In-game Images:

Chaos Undivided: For those who don't know, Chaos is a force of magic that has influence all over the world of Warhammer, some people get influenced by it to the point they make their pilgrimage up to the far north to join the armies of Chaos, the goal of the Chaos Armies is simple, kill as many people as possible and get granted horrifying mutations by the Chaos Gods.

Now here are the many minor factions of the Warhammer world, most of these will likely become DLCs in the future.

Green factions are factions that will be added in map expanding DLCs due to the fact they're outside of the current campaign map.

Bretonnia: A human faction with a very medieval culture, have knights and peasant warriors.

The Tomb Kings: A faction in the far southern deserts of the Old World, skeleton warriors who have been at rest for thousands of years. Like the Vampire Counts they rely on a skeletal lich priest to keep the army standing.

The Beastmen: Basically like the Greenskins, they roam the world pillaging every faction they see.

High Elves: Live on a huge island between the Old World and the New World, sworn enemy of the Dark Elves and have a very sour relationship with the Dwarves, have dragons.

Dark Elves: Sub-species of High Elf with dark skin and love dark magic, have dragons.

Wood Elves: Elves that live in the forests south of The Empire, have bows and tree monsters.

Lizardmen: Basically the Aztecs/Mayans of the New World these guys have more traditional armies compared to the factions of the Old World.

The Ogre Kingdoms: Have donkey cavalry These foes are someone not to be taken with a grain-of-salt, despite their few numbers, the Ogre Armies in the far east have ogres holding cannons as artillery. (Basically the Mongols in a way)

The Chaos Dwarves: A faction next to the Ogre Kingdoms who have a huge variety of Artillery and have Greenskin slaves to also fill up a majority of their army.

Skaven: A race of rats who have hoards of slaves and diseased warriors to help conquer the underway-passages of the old world; often clash with The Dwarves.

Kislev: Basically the hardcore Russian faction who live in the more northern areas of the Old World, have to deal with Chaos the most of any faction, so they will most likely have strong and hardy warriors.
The Campaign Map
I'm surprised if you're still here, below you will see the campaign map and all the factions and their starting locations.

In all seriousness, I was kinda pissed at how some factions were gonna be locked up in DLC.

which factions?
CA just announced that, "all factions will be in the game in some shape or form" so I guess my favorite faction might be playable
