Author Topic: Harriet Tubman will be on the $20 bill-- $10 and $5 bills changing, too  (Read 14188 times)

Also it was a joke so don't read too deeply into it.

Why replace Jackson?  He was a loving badass

Andrew Jackson sucked ass

if we take the 3/5 compromise and the wage gap into consideration, the real worth of the Tubman $20 is about $9.40

She's probably not the best candidate but I don't think she's a bad candidate, and we agree that she's certainly better than Andrew Jackson.
Of course, I agree with that sentiment. I'd think it'd only be fair to represent indigenous people on the currency, though. We have Sacagawea on the $1 coin but it's been at least a year since I've last seen one. It'd also be fitting justice to replace Jackson with an Indian lmfao

All these people putting down Andrew Jackson yet he put down the nullification crCIA and proved his capability as a strong leader putting aside his loyalty to his state. As well as the fact he  paid off the entire federal debt. When Andrew Jackson was president we didn't have a debt crCIA like we do currently. Not to mention that Andrew Jackson was elected popularly several times because he represented the "common people" and led a major decisive victory during the war of 1812.

All that aside, I don't see the need to changing our currency from how it is presently... we have BIGGER issues to worry about like the Federal Reserve System itself.

sounds like a sweet idea but i can see how this can go wrong in lots of ways
Why? Canada does it.

man andrew jackson wasn't really a nice guy but he kept america together with two bullets in his body and props to that
he also tried to dismantle the national bank through illicit means

he also tried to dismantle the national bank through illicit means

What's your point? Every national bank we've ever had was unnecessary and disastrous. Nicholas Biddle wasn't exactly an angel either he tried to create an economic disaster in order to continue a central banking system and oppose Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson's decision was popular among the people as they continued to vote him into office despite the banking crCIA instead of voting for Clay who supported a centralized banking system.

Lincoln also avoided the constitution by ordering the military blockade of Southern ports (Only congress can do so).

Lincoln suspended free speech and arrested politicians who opposed him (unconstitutional)

But in the end Lincoln's leadership and resolve made him one of the greatest president's in our country.

he paid off the entire federal debt.
and with the surplus funds acquired from paying off the debt, he caused a housing market bubble to burst and drove the country into rampant inflation and recession.

When Andrew Jackson was president we didn't have a debt crCIA like we do currently.
well a debt crCIA is alright if you're partial to a crippling economic recession

and led a major decisive victory during the war of 1812.
the battle of new orleans was after the war of 1812

All that aside, I don't see the need to changing our currency from how it is presently... we have BIGGER issues to worry about like the Federal Reserve System itself.
This is dumb and fallacious. There being bigger issues doesn't mean we aren't allowed to do anything else.
