This episode was truly fantastic.
The entire first act (King's Landing) was just superb. An absolute shocker, in all honesty.

May actually be more rewarding than had we seen Clegane Bowl.

Beyond that, they wrapped up everything else really really well.
The only thing I didn't like, which I haven't liked at all this season, is just how suddenly it seems people travel immense distances. Obviously it is taking them a long amount of time to do so, but the show is really making it difficult to understand that length of time. So we're getting some scenes that almost follow each other, but must be at least a week apart.
This episode seemed to do this on a grand scale, given the travel of Jaime and Varys.

Yea, the twist was incredible. A lot of people had predicted she would wildfire the Sept but nobody expected it to happen on this scale. And nobody expected her to become queen. I loved BotB but now when I think back on it I think "Wow... it was pretty mediocre compared to this one."

I thought the bit with Arya was kinda stupid, only bad part of the episode. Who was that girl's face she wore? Did Arya kill some innocent girl? And she killed Lord Frey's sons, which I suppose is fine. But the thought of her literally taking the time to somehow get everyone out of the kitchens and literally bake them into a pie is kinda hilariously dumb. I guess it was a cool idea but it should've been thrown out. Everyone puts Arya at Chaotic Good on Alignment Charts. Personally I see her as Chaotic Neutral at best.

Pycell's death seemed unnecessary. It's not like he was gonna do anything anyway.

When Petyr showed up in Mole's Town, I immediately commented on how ridiculous it was for him to travel for weeks or months through all the North just for that short conversation. The North is larger than the other 6 kingdoms combined. Also, I was taken out of the ending a little when I saw Varys aboard the ship with Dany. That means he sailed from Mereen to Dorne and then back to Mereen and now he's heading back to Dorne all within a few weeks.

It was a reference to the rat cook myth, which is really badass

"It wasn't for murder the gods cursed the Rat Cook, or for serving the King's son in a pie... he killed a guest beneath his roof... that's something the gods can't forgive." - Bran Stark

Pycell's death seemed unnecessary. It's not like he was gonna do anything anyway.
Pycell needed to die because Cersei was clearing the entire Council, hence her having no issues with killing the heir to Highgarden and her own uncle. Neither were actions she would take lightly but she needed them gone, along with the High Sparrow so that only she would have Tommen's ear.

Pycell had also been a thorn in her side from day one, and this episode was more than a little about Cersei getting revenge.

I'm most upset by Margaery being killed because I think she was a strong character.

The thing about the lack of travel time is that it's not consistent.
Within each episode there must be characters who aren't at the same time.

Take Sam for example. He fled with the sword what, 3-4 episodes ago?
In that time Jon has travelled all over the North looking for allies (1-2 weeks?). Petyr has travelled all the way from the Vale to the very north and back to Winterfell (2-3 weeks). Theon has sailed all the way down Westeros, past the Stepstones, beyond Volantis, past Valyria, through Slavers Bay to Meereen (2-3 months?). Dany and her army have ridden from Vaes Dothrak to Meereen (1 month?). Varys left Meereen a few episodes ago and sailed all the way to Dorne, and back again (2 months?).

Meanwhile Sam has travelled half the distance between Winterfell and the Wall (1 week)).

Either the scenes/characters are not chronological, or Sam, Gilly and baby had the most amazing adventure over the last few episodes.
In reality Sam must have been at Oldtown for 2-3 months by the time that Cersei took the throne.

Maegary's death was awful. At first I thought she had escaped and it was just offscreen but once the camera zoomed out and showed just how large that explosion was--there's no way.

The scenes can't be in chronological order. Varys appeared in Dorne and then in Mereen within just a few minutes between both scenes.

The Jon Targaryan reveal is really not being appreciated like it should be under all the explosion stuff. I thought that bit was incredible, maybe the best scene in the episode.

I wonder what Jon's real name is

It is chronological, just weird. Vary's goes to dorne to recruit house martell and house tyrell because they are now both enemies of the lannisters, and in the final shots both houses are seen in the fleet.

How did you feel when you realized they could have put a Hound/Beric/Stoneheart/Benjen/Aegon/Euron/Aeron/Yara/Lyanna/Jaqen/Arya/Varys/Quaithe scene but instead had a useless Sam scene that they should have pushed to next season?

Jon

CENA

Pretty good because we got a bunch of sick shots of the citadel/oldtown

I tuned into this last night and the first thing I see is a third of the core cast get blown to pieces. Never change Game of Thrones..

The season finale was so good it persuaded me to buy seasons 1-5. Just started and finished season 1 today.
