Yeah, that recolour actually looks decent. In my opinion, the "official" art style just looks like cheap plastic. It belongs on a F2P mobile game, not a major AA (borderline AAA) title.

rip civ beyond earth, that forgetin trainwreck

i liked the civ 5 art style better

ALSO, apparently the game is releasing with all the content from the Civ5 DLCs, such as espionage, religions and the updated trading.

Pretty stupid they even needed to mention this, making a sequel and leaving out features that actually made the previous one playable shouldn't even be a selling point

Most game sequels do that
But I liked vanilla Civ V :(

the new style reminds me of god damn spyro for whatever reason

I'm actually kinda interested in civ 6 even if I didnt really play Civ V all that much.

Firaxis leaves out content with Civ games all the time

I thought the 10-16 person units were small but now it looks like they've all got 4

Was CiV also sixty dollars on release? I want to know if the current pricetag is temporary, or if I'm just going to have to pay this much no matter when I buy it.

I like how we've gone from every game being too brown to every game being grossly oversaturated.

I believe so, yeah

then it gradually decreased to only $30

From what I've seen so far Civ 6 is definitely an ugly game. Haven't seen much, but just look at this comparison to Civ 5.

Less detail, more eye-annihilating colors.

Colors are terrible, less detail is good. Who really wants realistic graphics?
