is apparently, considered an "aimbot." I thought it would be a helpful thing, not harmful
it's because it affects things differently based on the control scheme like I've said a few times
but like I said, if baddy says that aim assist isn't allowed, then this thread will be locked.
he won't, there isn't any good reason for him to

So do keybind and client addons. you could bind a control to give yourself an advantage. shut my mouth please

I'll just wait for him to say for sure, instead of skipping to conclusions.

Also, you seem like a nice guy. On this thread, at least.

Yeah, but aim assist "soft aims" onto enemies rather than looking at them all the time.alright, I understand. I'll try to aim better then, since aim assist is apparently, considered an "aimbot." I thought it would be a helpful thing, not harmful.

Yeah, when making something like "aim assist" someone is going to abuse how it works; yeah banning is a thing but eventually it'll be a bigger problem
Best idea is just learn how to aim, making a server with bots in areas and try to kill them

Last thing: people keep saying that aim assist is mainly for controllers. Does that mean aim assist is not allowed for PC? I might have to look that up.
Controllers are more difficult to aim in a direction, sensitivity can be raised but there's a higher chance you will miss your target unless you're super good and have no life
For the mouse it's quite easy to look around, but it's not good for getting aim assist, I'm sure some games actually have aim assist but I don't think it would be useful for blockland because of different speeds such as player velocity and projectile velocity, and then your velocity

Off-Topic: Should I host my zombie server again? Haven't hosted in a while.
You can host as you like, if you feel like hosting, then host.

its not that aim assist is necessarily bad. its that in order to make it, you need to make code that can very easily be converted to a full-on aimbot, which is against modding rules.

like, if your client can tell when your aim is getting close to a player and autolock onto them when your reticle is within a certain distance, it already knows where the enemy players are, and thus can be modified into a full-on aimbot by any semi-experienced scripter.

this would be enough for it to get failbinned, i expect. just like any mod that lets you change the static shape name of bots (the command is password-protected, since otherwise you'd have tons of skript kiddies hosting servers with "Badspot" on the server)

Which is also why other commands such as secureClientCmd* is almost blocked (it doesn't work even if you get the password) for things like player list and trust manager so idiots don't mess with it

I'll just wait for him to say for sure, instead of skipping to conclusions.
he hardly responds to threads anymore anyways

I am, but I just have to repeat what I say because it's one of the many major points that can't really be fixed

Alright, I've came to a conclusion, if aim assist isn't a thing, then sensitivity mught be a problem. I'll try turning it down a bit. If there happens to be a balanced aim assist or something, just pm me. Otherwise, /discuss your opinions on it, or just let the thread die again, like the minimap one.

also I wasn't trying to come off as an starfish who shuts down people's ideas, it's just that aim assist ain't a thing that's gonna happen for many reasons and I'm trying to directly tell you why

but yeah turning down sensitivity is really your best bet, I did mean turn down in that one post instead of turn up so that was my bad

it's pretty much unspoken word that modders don't release code like this when badspot is clearly opposed to the idea (there have been multiple patches that make it harder for people to determine the positions of other players in torquescript). for one, releasing that code means that it's a lot easier for anyone to make gross mods like aimbots. secondly, it means that badspot will probably patch whatever workaround you used. and odds are, that workaround is also neat for tons of other situations, and modders have a pretty invested interest in keeping their tools like that close to their chest

Getting a gaming mouse also helps, I had a crappy Logitech that wasn't made for gaming, then I got a Logitech G700 series, it was worth the price and I play much better with it.

an hour?
onprojectilehit namedbrick door open
literally the only event that it'd need
Uh no, you'd have to make the targets moving, which would require rendering and raycasting turned on and off, not to mention when a target's knocked down

o, didn't realize they moved

GTAV on PC has 'soft aim assist' when you use a controller. The best part is you can use it in tandem with keyboard and mouse controls. It loving wrecks, you can blow the forget out of people going 120+ on sport bikes by just holding LT and then RT

That being said, aim assist on PC, no matter how watered down, is a loving awful idea. The Blockland community isn't even that great at shooting, you don't need aimbot.

Can confirm

also aim assist wouldn't really help for most weapons unless you predicted the target's movement anyway. blockland's projectile have a pretty slow top speed relative to a lot of current games. the exception to this are raycast weapons, but those are easier to aim anyway because you don't have to consider travel speed at all. bl weapons would probably be a lot easier to use if projectiles could go way faster, but i think it'd also take away from what makes blockland's combat feel different too
