actual metal is good, not the trash that gets popular
Popularity doesn't make metal into non-metal though. It's more stimulating to discuss the flaws of specific albums/songs than to generalize u kno what I mean? :)

Often, when I see a lot of the content that this community generates, particularly in threads like this or on certain Discords, it makes me think very hard about society as it is and why things are the way they are. It makes me nervous and frustrated, as instead of the classic days where I wouldn't be afraid to have a pleasant, detailed conversation with somebody, instead more and more individuals have resorted to filling their posting repertoire with straight-up "stuffposting", the act of producing content which sparks no further debate or interest and merely exists to waste the bandwidth of all involved.

I often wonder how the children of this current generation will be when they are required to answer tomorrow's big questions, yet their only form of true communication is by describing unfunny jokes, posting egocentric screenshots of irrelevant media and ultimately forgoing the very cultural values that allowed society to climb as high as it did. It's rather funny that people who user the internet are far, far removed from the levels of sanity and "down-to-Earth"-ness that the original creators were, and how they must feel as the people responsible for entire legions of socially handicapped, mentally handicapped sheep must be completely and utterly demoralising.

I sit here, completely dumbfounded by how a community could be built on such a pile of bullstuff, but it hit me; people are tired. People have become so tired from the existence of stuffposting, that they find themselves contributing to it as they're simply incapable of working up the energy to make a difference and bring back serious, intellectual debate and discussion. Whereas the previous (my) generation was all about living live and telling stories, this (and future) generation will instead be known for their ability to convert time into waste product. How anybody could thrive and become successful in that kind of environment will forever amaze me, but maybe it is unsurprising that we are heading towards the 12-minutes-of-fame universe that Andy Warhol once described.

Seriously; just look at your posts, this forum and the associated Discords. Measure the valuable contributions, and study how deep down the pit we've gone. There is no turning back at this point. Nobody will grow up or change; we've lost any kind of feeling of normality that is required to bring back a higher standard. This is it. This is what society has become now. A bunch of children, squabbling over who's 12-letter post can bring the most virtual eRep. This is what we can look forward to further in a more technology-embraced world, as more people jump on the bandwagon and are also progressively brought down to this level. This is what humanity has become; a constantly fight to capture the bottom of the barrel.

Thank you. All of you.

Not all posts need to be part of an intellectual discussion. Sometimes you can just post for fun.

nah i don't think i'll continue adding them just in case there are people who will do it just to get on the list for one reason or another
