I had the same cold you have

It started with a fever for me, then a REALLY bad soar throat, then non-stop coughing

The soar throat goes away by itself after a few days, and as for the coughing, let your body cough stuff up because that is what coughing is supposed to do.  Take some coughing medicine at night to help you sleep.  It helped me

Just letting it all happen isn't going to make it go away quicker.

I drank some soup, and a few hours later, my throat hurts even more now.

Now my throat hurts a lot. I've already taken some Dayquil, but that only helped for about an hour. What are some ways to alleviate a raw/sore throat?

keep it wet. keep a huge jug of water or whatever fluid you want next to you at all times and just drink it down whenever you feel pain or dryness in your throat. I've beat sore throats in under a day doing this.

When I get a sore throat I just douse it endlessly with refreshing beverages.

Doesn't make the problem go away any faster but I suffer for that sweet, sweet momentary release

On an unrelated note, how is your eye doing?

Something slightly acidic like soda usually relieves it for a while

tea, and gargling might help too

just drank some milk with honey, and now it feels worse

I said whiskey and honey.

I'm in a similar boat. Developed my cold two days ago.
Sore, tight throat, chesty cough, congested nose and fatigue.

It hurts to swallow, which makes drinking unpleasant.
I've just been on ibuprofen for the pain and cough syrup. I still feel like stuff, but better than without. I'm just going to wait it out.
