  • Lost River: In our biggest update to the Lost River zone yet, there is now more than ever to explore in the depths. We've built upon nearly every corner of the Lost River zone, from the all new Ghost Forest and Bone Fields areas, to the improved Lost River Junction and the Lava Zone connection. Everywhere you turn, you'll find something new and improved. Just watch out for the acid.
  • Reefback: These gentle giants now have the feature they were named after - Reefs! The beautiful flora that now grows on the Reefback is randomly generated so each has a unique look. Be sure to break open some of the barnacles found on their backs, they now contain valuable resources. Keep an eye out for baby Reefbacks as well.
  • River Prowler: This creepy, aggresive creature now prowls the Lost River zone. While exploring, keep a sharp eye out for these beasties as they are definitely dangerous.
  • Mesmer: Now 100% more mesmerizing as its key ability has been fixed and improved upon. Keep a keen eye out for these nasty little creatures that can pull you in and mesmerize you before going in for a bite.

  • Precursor Array & Base: Rising out of the ocean, a strange, large structure appears in Subnautica. We don't want to spoil the surprise, so we won't say much. There are two entrances to this area, both of which must be discovered by you, the explorer. Once inside, more mysteries await...
  • Ancient Artifacts: Other strange objects are hidden around the world, waiting to be uncovered. Regardless of where you go, keep your eyes peeled for additions, such as a Precursor Cache.

Bump
The Subnautica development team has finally released a new update for 2017.
Castles & Coffee Update
(Click the image above to watch the video)
This updates includes the following things.
Quote
  • Lava Castle Precursor Base: A secret lies hidden deep within the bowels of the Lava Castle: A Precursor Base. Great peril awaits any diver attempting to explore this mysterious structure. A Sea Dragon Leviathan guards the entrance, Stalkers prowl the narrow lava passageways, while immense heat and pressure threaten near certain death.  If you can make it inside, treasures and secrets await.
  • Ion Power: The ocean is vast, and often inhospitable. Your survival depends on maintaining a steady supply of power to your equipment and vehicles.  New “Ion” batteries and power cells are much longer lasting than existing power sources. Their extended run times allow you to conduct more exploration work between charges.
  • Coffee Machines: Occasionally we add a feature to Subnautica that really matters. A feature of great consequence. The coffee machine is one of those features.  Find the coffee machine amongst the wreckage of the Aurora, place it in your base, and bask in the glory of having achieved greatness.
  • Gravsphere: The Gravsphere pulls in everything around it. Deploy a Gravsphere to draw in predators, prey and loot.  We’ve been experimenting with prototypes of the Gravsphere for some time. The Castle’s and Coffee Update brings the Graveshere’s proper model and animations.
  • Luggage Bags: The luggage bag acts as portable storage. Pick it up, put it down, and store items in it.  Like the coffee machine, the luggage bag may be found in the wreckage of the Aurora.
  • Working Trash Cans: Alright, stick with us for a moment. This is important. Trash cans actually work.  Say goodbye to inventory clutter: Trash cans mean you can throw stuff away. It’s not exactly environmentally friendly, and we don’t know where the stuff goes, but this is the future so don’t worry too much about it.
  • Air Bladder: The Air Bladder now has a proper model and animations. Use the Air Bladder to rapidly ascend to the surface. Useful in sticky situations where you need to get to get up from the depths, fast!
  • Skip Time: You can now advance time by sleeping.  Find the night time too spooky? Hit the hay when the sun sets and you will wake up to the sun shining through your sea-base windows.
  • Halved Seaglide light energy cost
  • Quartered Seaglide active energy cost
  • Removed frame-rate dependence problem with Seaglide energy usage
  • Removed Kyanite from Blood Kelp (only drillable now)
  • Added Kynanite to recipe for 3rd stage of the rocket (resource sink)

This updates includes the following things.

  • The Infection: A mysterious disease has presented itself throughout the world in the latest update, posing a threat to both the local wildlife and to you. Luckily, with the introduction of self-scanning, it’s now easier to monitor for possible infection.
  • Disease Research Facility: Hidden within the Lost River, a previously inaccessible Precursor Base opens its doors for the first time. Mysterious remnants begin to paint the picture of a story from another time. Explore at your own risk.
  • Containment Facility Exterior: A giant structure has appeared deep beneath the ocean floor. For now, we’re just teasing: You can only explore the exterior, and will have to wait for a future update to see inside…
  • New Biome: Crag Field: Where there was previously empty seabed, the Crag Field has arisen. Explore this new environment, but watch out for Bone Sharks!
  • Lost River Lab Cache: Along one of the entrance corridors to the Lost River Zone, a cavernous expanse has been added with new Precursor ruins. The tale of this Cache is interconnected with the Precursor Base just around the corner.
  • PDA Drag’n’Drop: The PDA now supports drag-and-drop for quick slot item assignment.
  • Improved Map Scanner Room: The map scanner room now features a much great scan radius, scans faster, and is easier to move around in.

  • Holographic Status: A new holographic status display of the Cyclops shows damaged areas and onboard fire locations. Useful to keep an eye on when under attack by aggressors.

  • Precursor Caves: Two new caves make an appearance in this update, within the Mushroom forest and the Crag Fields. All Precursor areas are part of a much larger story….
  • New In-Game UI: The most noticeable change in the latest update is the amazing new UI. Colorful and animated displays show important data useful for survival.

Inside lie the answers to these questions and more. With many chambers to explore and strange items to uncover, the Facility reveals new chapters of Subnautica lore.
  • Sea Emperor Leviathan: Lurking deep within the Primary Containment Facility, a creature of immense proportions awaits. This ancient Sea Emperor Leviathan is the beginning of the end...
  • Precursor Pipes: A network of ancient pipes have been placed throughout the world. They serve a unique purpose in the story of Subnautica, a purpose you will have to uncover on your own.
  • Cyclops Improvements: There's been some changes to the Cyclops based on customer feedback, including: doubling power reserves, the ability to run silent at any speed, enhanced shields, the ability to shut down the engine for complete silence, and more.
  • Models, Everywhere: All throughout Subnautica, final art assets are making their way into the game. From coffee machines to bar tables, the misfit models finally have their day. This includes “Loot Cube” models as well.
  • New Cyclops UI: Refreshed UI on all displays makes interacting with the Cyclops that much easier. This includes the Engine Room Health Display, the Vehicle Modification console, the Heads Up Display, and more.
  • Leveling Up: Many areas have been added to and improved. Precursor Teleporter Caves have been placed in both the Ghost Forest and the Bulb Zone (formerly the Koosh Bush Zone). The Crag Fields also have new additions.
  • Lifepod 7: A new stricken Lifepod is available for you to find and explore. Lifepod 7 contains eclectic treasures for any diver clever enough to find it!
  • New PDA Interface: New UI for the PDA has been added, making the player experience much better when using the PDA.
  • Batteries and Power Cells now charge to the appropriate levels.
  • Airtanks no longer stack in inventory but a new tank has been added that holds as much as three times that of a standard tank of air.
  • A lot of optimization has been implemented in this update to create a more seamless experience.

Just want to say it's really cool how on point you are when it comes to sharing updates about the game and the way you present it is pretty straight forward/clean

quality thread, and it looks in depth enough now to consider it less of an alpha and more of a full game.
