Author Topic: The Chronology of the Blockland Forums  (Read 489303 times)

if badspot old yellers this forum, im contacting everyone (including lord tony <3) and making another community
It's going to happen eventually, and I have to wonder how successful something like that would be, plus if it's even worth keeping up this blighted corner of the internet.
It's clear that there's only a handful of people who still visit this place now, and thanks to the AI datascrapers it's hard to tell if there are any new people coming in or just lurking the board. Blockland itself is really just limping along with a few die-hard fans and Brickadia wasn't able to generate much attention in the next generation of gamers, so it'll realistically just be us oldheads who refuse to leave and maybe one or two friends we can rope in with us to the retirement home.
That's not even considering how far forums have fallen in popularity - if it's not on twitter, discord, or whatever it basically doesn't exist to people who are newer to the internet.

If the forums were open we would be getting new members pretty certain.

E.g. we got mr MikolajBogush2 staring at the forums right now with no key locked outside staring through the window lmao

Firstly you have to define success. If success is having hundreds of active posters like the cursed ol' days, then yeah we wouldn't be. But if we define success as getting at least some of the good (as to minimize the spread of the blight) people here in as a small but dedicated community then I think success is very attainable. It's also immediately apparent that we're not the same stuffty teenagers we were back then either, and we're all (except Lord Tony) behaving in a much more mature manner, at least the ones who are here.

Does it have to be? Is the retirement home so bad? Why does everything need to be some ultra popular megasite when we can have our own small little corner?

Also, this argument boils down to "We aren't going to succeed so why bother trying at all"

It would be nice to have a less mature community where I can continue to ride out life with zero reading comprehension without getting banned but I think the best bet for people here is to move to somethingawful. I've mentioned it before but SA has a similar feeling as here both because it's a pre-social media forum and the fact this forum is a spin-off of sorts of their culture. If I recall correctly baddy even was a poster there which makes more sense. E.g. Mailbag is taken from there, bounced to here and is now in a way KF's entire culture and they even still call it mailbag.

Nothing wrong with that, it's just that forums thrive and work better with more users and any flow of new members.
A forum on the scale of how many active posters we have here right now would really be better suited for a groupchat or whatever. Or if you insist on a forum, a very small one with only a handful of boards.

whenever this place goes down i'm up for becoming a part of whatever new retirement home pops up (at the very least so i can try and keep the pax meetups going lol). we can even build a special containment for tony and treat him like a court jester

aren't court jesters supposed to be funny

There is something funny about a man who's only claim to fame is being a forum troll, and is desperately trying to cling onto that in a forum that largely ignores his presence.

Never, I'm on here three times now.

It's like the world's most embarrassing leaderboard.
plz change avatar  :panda: that icon is so triggering

Bisjac is problematic media and we will be hanging Swholli from the gallows if he does not change his avatar within the next 24 hours

I joke but you should actually change your avatar out of respect for others

bro why was bisjac so popular back in the day he always seemed like a jerk lol

he was the rare adult surrounding himself with children. not surprising given his creepphilic tendencies.
