Britain Declares War

Oswald Mosley, seeking to reform the British empire in the stupidest way possible, declares war on The Netherlands, claiming that their territory in Indonesia belongs to the British empire, and always has.

129 ships are sent into the English channel to surround the dutch coasts to search and destroy dutch ships, whilst a further 10 search and destroy around indonesia

Taking off from rom Dover, Stirlings and Wellingtons relentlessly pound dutch any dutch factories and harbours they have, whilst fighters patrol the air and attempt to intercept any enemy aircraft.

Invasions from the sea and land are staged from these parts

10 divisions of men are launched to invade the NL themselves

another 5 divisions of men are sent to invade the west dutch indies, whilst another 5 divisions, 2 are men, 2 are tanks and 1 is motorized push south of current British claims

Germany also declares war on the Netherlands and rushes in to support British troops.
(Note: all occupied land will be ceded to Britain.)

Certainly Holland will be able to hold of the invading force! They must!

France, along with Belgium, Portugal, Ireland Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Cuba, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, create the United Nations; a great alliance of democracies. (This is the official name of the Allies, a military alliance, not the intergovernmental organization.) They also, with hesitation, invite the Soviet Union as well as Japan as honorary members. Switzerland and Liechtenstein are invited but choose to remain neutral.

As the skies buzz constantly with the Italian Airforce showing their superiority, troops running through the streets to quickly bring down tank traps and other forms of barricades. The remains of the Turkish Army, encircled, scattered, and disorganized, are hurriedly captured, along with their equipment. The Parliament is seized by multiple squads, with Turkey soon finding itself under Italy's rule. Martial Law is enacted in Istanbul & Ankara, with reserve forces taking place in them and few countryside areas.

Turkey is chosen to be annexed, although, like the rest of the countries conquered by Italy, a pseudo-state is planned.

The Soviet Union accepts the invitation, massing their invasion force in the East. Battle plans are created for an invasion of Germany and other Fascist nations.

itt: vehemently neutral nations and practically fascist "democracies" join a democratic alliance, and invite an autocrat and the biggest communist

i get that the rp doesn't have to exactly mirror history but this is just dumb

portugal was historically an authoritarian regime that, while officially neutral, was in many ways pro-fascist

ireland was also strongly neutral but since it borders a now fascist britain i'll let it slide

sweden had a very strongly pro-neutrality foreign doctrine originating in the napoleonic wars when the mistake of siding with france cost them finland

norway historically attempted neutrality but was invaded anyway (as in, despite clear signs of an impending threat, it didn't join a faction until it was too late)

poland has recent historical reasons for disinterest in joining a faction with the soviets

cuba was incredibly corrupt, but deeply within the american sphere of influence. a fascist america would only encourage cuban cooperation, especially with the abundant american influence on the young hispanic island nation

the whole non-american anglosphere had abundant british influence, and not just politically. while south africa has some justification in being worried, sort of, i guess (italian invasion of ethiopia), australia and new zealand really have nothing to fall back on. they were invited to an alliance quite recently, displaying fascist-anglospheric friendliness to them, and the japanese empire by 1940 was an obvious threat to the pacific.

plus... inviting japan in general to a democratic alliance...

japan is a loving military-led imperial monarchy. they make the soviet union look like switzerland.

belgium was historically neutral but i think seeing their northern neighbour getting doublericharded is a pretty solid justification for them siding with france (again), so that's fine

haha
anyway back to the rp

haha
anyway back to the rp
???

after the sea invasion is successful and ports have been taken on the dutch mainland, with a beachhead secured 5 tank divisions and 10 motorized divisions along with 5 artillery divisions are shipped across as well as 10 more troop divisions, and are set up across a front line

it means it's a game so sit down, dumby
it's essentially a double unholy alliance. japan was rejected by the axis and the USSR holds a grudge against the fascists so both would be brought together to fight against the ultra fascist alliance. Also two countries being fascist doesn't mean they're aligned. They can have incredibly different goals. two nationalist countries are for their own country. A neo-roman empire would conflict with a neo-greek empire, for instance.

and naturally the real allies weren't specifically democracies, just anti-fascist. here, they're not necessarily anti-fascist, but anti-fascintern. if they can use japan's military prowess to their advantage then of course they would. nationalist countries have existed for thousands of years. it's not them, but this particularly militaristic bunch of countries that need to be stopped. some ultra-neutral countries are scared by the sudden rise of fascism and opt to join the allies.

except you explicitly stated it was a loving democratic alliance

some of the members had serious gripes with eachother or had no quarrel with the fascintern

you're probably the dumbest if you think some neutral country like portugal would join it

jun has a point, I'm not really annoyed by it but he does have a point

i gotta agree with Junc here
i'm okay with the formation of a democratic alliance but this is pretty ridiculous

Italy begins focusing it's ground forces onto the borders of the Caucasus and North Italy.

also guys let's face it, if someone was to form a democratic-only alliance, it'd be pretty loving useless. all the major democratic powers (excluding france) have made a sharp turn and became fascists overnight in 1936, with an overly submissive population that realistically would probably lead to major rebellions within the first few months if not the next night. i'm not sure how american patriot cousin jimmy that resembles 85% of the united states down the road in alabama with his hunting rifle is going to react to uncle bobby getting his head smashed into the sidewalk for not wanting an american dictatorship and wanting to keep the constitution active, as if the congress & british parliament being abolished wasn't a major red flag from the beginning and a call to the average american citizen or british colonials & their armies

this isn't the america we've got going around today, mind you, this is america & britain in 1936-1937. just because the world is in a great depression (im assuming the UK was hit too) doesn't mean everyone has lost all their morals & values. it's ridiculous that two of the most democratic powers in the world could get by so easily with suddenly becoming totalitarian fascists, abolishing their stuff with no real resistance. cousin jimmy down the road with his gun, you remember him? he's not going to pick up that rifle and fight apparently, no, he's going to take to the streets of atlanta with a picket sign in his hands are try to get into a fistfight with some government employee before someone says they send down military police. british india? nah, they're not going to resist, they're just going to voice their disdain before their own colonial army turns on them and submits to the british immediately. nope, no widespread violence here, just one or two posts and that's it. the fact that you guys whine about a non-democratic country being invited to an alliance of the one or two actual democratic powers of the world (i looked at the map, unless you count australia being involved in european affairs, france is the only major democratic power here!) is ridiculous and stupid if you've been able to do all this to yourselves, i don't give a stuff if it was called a 'democratic alliance', names are names, get over it
