Author Topic: is it bad if i'm cooking ramen and it starts to get really bubbly in the pan  (Read 3891 times)

bisjac, do microwave popcorn and popcorn popped with a popping machine taste the same to you

no because the ingredients are different. stovetop uses oil, microwave popcorn uses other types of butters, air poppers use nothing at all.
why did you even think that was a good comparison?
the ingredients are the same for ramen no matter how you heat the water.

im still curious how you guys flavor hot water differently with water boiled from a microwave vs a stovetop.
you also didnt specify if it was gas or electric range, as that would make a difference if you actually believe that to.

are you just boiling the water in the microwave or are you putting the noodles in there too? noodles in the microwave would taste different.
also, cup ramen or block?

i put cold water and noodles together in the microwave. the result is no different doing so on the stove.
or even if you did the boiling water first on either one, its the same.

im not a ramen scientist but i think it has to do with the flavor being spread around more evenly due to the periodic stirring throughout the cooking process. plus, microwave doesn't give you that control. microwave noodles are probably allclumped together for the whole process. either way, they just definitely taste different.

no matter how i cook it, i dont put the flavor stuff in till its done and in the bowl to eat.
cooking that flavor stuff has no extra effect. it dopsnt change the noodles in any way. its creating a sauce out of the water.
just stir it in at the end. cooking it in the pot is a waste as you lose a bunch of it to the sides of the pot anyways.

would you say my puns give you butterflies in your stomach
I dont get it

well what do you think those packets are? they are dried seasonings. they only serve to stir around. they cannot change or cook into noodles.
they arnt cubes of roux that can dissolve...
