The term Third World arose during the Cold War to define countries that remained non-aligned with either NATO, or the Communist Bloc. The United States, Western European nations and their allies represented the First World, while the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and their allies represented the Second World.

This isn't the way people use the term though. When you say "Turning into a third world country" you're basically saying, "Turning into a less developed country", as the 3rd world is generally less developed.

the point hes making is not that this is a bad way to count rapes, its that this is not how other countries (as far as i know) record their statistics. this in turn obviously make their stats a lot different in comparison to other countries

Borders are loving stupid, nationalism is loving stupid, and the sooner we can get a world government (as long as they're democratic and respect human rights, which the UN does), the better.
