Is it too late to get into Destiny?

I heard Destiny getting mixed reviews at launch and I pretty much just stayed away from it. Last year, when the Taken King came out, it peaked me interest, but I still didn't buy the game. Now, the RISE OF IRON expansion is releasing in about a month. I just want to say should I blow some $60 on the Destiny Collector's Edition (base game and all expansions/DLC)? I'm kind of second guessing because I hear rumors Destiny 2 is coming out next year and I'll rather wait for that.

Probably just worth waiting for Destiny 2. The expacs this late are mostly just for the existing playerbase.

I played destiny while at my friends house about a month ago. I had lots of fun without, I only had slight problems, but the main one being that you have to have every DLC to nearly play the game after the campaign.

And it takes quite a while to get up to PVP light levels. I'm stuck just below the recommended amount of something like 297 iirc
