It's a symptom of the "the world is out to get me" narrative that's been a major component in politics over the past couple years. Any obstacle you face to getting what you want has been put in place by those who were supposedly "always" against you, and it's constantly about breaking barriers that you've simply set up for yourself beyond what actually exists. I am a supporter of trans rights, I think mental illness is a strong word for what's really a component of identity, but the argument that we should shame cis people for being so conforming is ludicrous and only creates more issues.
