I prefer making my own mac $ cheese. I use several different kinds of cheese. It's good.

gross
mac and cheese should never have anything crunchy or crusty

I like the shaped ones
not because I'm five but because they have much better texture
Too bad no one asked you for your handicap take on mac and cheese.

Macaroni and cheese is literally cooked macaroni and a melted cheese sauce, which at it's most basic is milk/cream and cheese. There's no magic to it. Unless you were asking what cheeses he uses because I too would like to know.

cheddar and munster are probably good (not that stuffty bland munster, the good sharp munster)

Mozzarella, mild cheddar, parmesan and a bit of habanero jack.

Call me pretentious, but this is my favorite sort of box mac and cheese on the market. It tastes good and even easier to cook than the powder.
