The Griđese are unwilling to consider joining the BCU at this point, and look only to form arrangements which won't strongly entangle them in the Erinamese-Belenese conflict (especially to the Ezbatan camp given their current working relationship with the Belenese).  They don't see unifying the region as particularly suited to their interests, and as one highly placed official voices, "Very good representation in the BCU, which may be overturned in the name of the BCU, is worth less than complete representation under our own sovereignty."
Just to clarify, using all anglicized names:

Belenia = Main enemy
Erinaum = Me — BCU
Zhenia = Closest ally of Erinaum — BCU
Tsekenaum = Neutral
Nytegaum = Closest ally of Belenia
Üfanda = Friend of Belenia
Kasysa = Close ally of Erinaum — BCU
Ashydra = Slight favor toward Erinaum
Thjuhiaum = Ally of Belenia
Madjurja = Ally of Erinaum — BCU
Chepri = Ally of Erinaum — BCU
Zairinaum = Slight favor toward Belenia
Taninaum = Neutral
Tumokit = Neutral, opportunistic
Grithjash = Neutral, opportunistic
Pokjle = Friend of Erinaum
Kadizhe = Friend of Belenia
Vedania = Favor toward Erinaum
Fjedera = Neutral
Thüevonaum = Neutral

The Erinamese delegation walks out, naturally they don't see a profitable deal when they see it.

Over centuries of Erinamese alliances, intermarriages have secured many BCU members.  A new sect has grown out of it, called Vün Acylism.  Vün religious tradition is codified into a book called, simply, "The Book of Vün".  Vün teachings incorporate traditional Acylism, but do not denounce, and explicitly allow mixing of the bloods, and mention any inter-strata offspring to operate by paternal heretical lineage.

Vün beliefs spread throughout the BCU.

This was quoted in a mass update, but never addressed.
The negotiations have immense success in incorporating clans inland.  Some just agree to alliances or trade, though.  Those who are closer to the sea and thrive from its benefits ask for a higher offer to convince them that union or negotiations would be worthwhile.

The Imperator is not to be questioned. The League's military is raised and marched though the restless former slaveholders' lands, striking a simple message: disband the mercenary regiments.
Several of the slaveholders, who are mobility of sorts, call this an outrage and call for a march on the capital and pay a high price for a decent fighting force, only to be stomped out by the national military.  Nationalism grows.  The nobles are made an example of and have their titles discarded.  Their assets are divided in the classic League fashion.  The military, however, in fighting off this surprise force, is weakened.  League leadership believes that although the many clans if the land are linked by blood, a cultural solidarity is lacking.

Naval activity kicks up in support of the settlers in the west. Hand-picked soldiers looking for a new lease on life are given spots on the second wave of settlers, along with engineers and SLTC officials. This colony will develop quite nicely.
The colony grows again.  The colony comes under attacks from some remnants and defeats the threat in a three-day battle.

Requests are also sent for the documentation of the savages' race. Are they descended from our ancestors? Are they too syncretic Man? Or are they purely mortal man from a foreign land?
They do indeed seem to be related, but not descended from the same ancestors by which the rest of the land had been judged, but by some much more distant ancestor.  The language varies in great degrees, but is not so unlike the League's to make communication an overwhelming barrier.

some wise and learned lawmakers are brought over as well as a "peacekeeping" force as a sit down is arranged with local elders to discuss some of these tribes practices, ways to make them comply with Byartaleni law, and/or compromises.
The elders of the tribes say their customs are their business, as the Byartaleni agreement had chosen to respect. (A human sacrifice or a few occurs at wealthy people's funerals.)

Meanwhile, work on boats continues as some adventerous folks continue looking yearningly out to the sea to raid and fish. Additionally some ships are commissioned to be made for the purposes of strengthening their whaling trade.
Fishing and whaling, after a few years, grows, and then shrinks as population is brought under clamp.  Fishermen and whalers begin to bicker amongst each other for necessary seasonal spots.  Raids occur on coastlines, subduing small tribes.  Some to the east however, have possession of copper, which had not been made in Byartalena.

REs on Saturday, and a map update sometime next week.

Those of the League who fought against the slavers, living and dead, are celebrated as war heroes. Notably well-spoken veterans are given positions in the command ranks of the League's military. Artwork blooms, retelling and romanticizing the war as one of liberty versus corruption. Nationalist or otherwise pan-Niskrenok imagery is prevelant, and it includes works depicting the citizenry of the League as culturally and genetically superior to those outside Zoko-Niskrenok. The SLTC picks up on this, taking advantage of the new demand by scaling up the trade of art and the raw materials used for making art.

It is announced that for both national pride and military ambition, there will be annual marches throughout the tribes. Not in the fashion of occupationary force, but of course, in the fashion of parades and lyrical discourse.

A third wave of settlers, now including veteran soldiers, sets sail for the colony. A regional military command hub is erected in a cob-reinforced wooden hillfort.

The Grand Imperator continues to consolidate his title's authority.

Byartalena tries to warn the elders that, the laws are in place for their protection rather than to simply encroach upon their culture.

However, being of a germanic pagan faith, the lawmen gather and begin simple rewrites of their own laws.

Sacrifices are not uncommon in Byartalena, with every few years a blot is held in which sacrifices, both human and animal, are given up to the gods.

With this in mind, they simply aim to rewrite the laws to pass these under with the same sacrifices.

When the bickering of the whalers and fishermen begins, those lawmen are sent to the northern coastal tribes as well as some other scholars. Some boats are sent out to survey the seas to find where the optimal spots to fish and whale are in those seasons, and then write off laws on selective whaling spots and seasons.

When news of the tribes to the east with copper is heard, there is a gather of warbands to head in the direction to find and try to subdue them and take their learned men for themselves. What is yours is mine, right?

When the leaders receive word of such a discovery, 3 other ships are filled with supplies and an appropriate amount of military supplies, before they are shipped off to the Northern lands to colonize it.

After a long debate in the capital, it is decided that it is necessary to expand so that we may meet our larger neighbor in size. Colonists are sent out eastward to claim a large portion of land. An army of 10,000 follows them to make sure that the nearby tribes do not attempt to stop it. Any tribes that are in its way are not killed, however. They are offered a small sum of gold and some soldiers as reparation for their land. Any that attempt to hold their ground will be threatened the first time, killed the second. This is justified to the A'lardian community with a claim of defense against a larger nation.

As for tribes not in the way, they are assured that the expansion will not go in their direction, and that it is all for a good cause.
Most of the nation's builders are sent as well, to build fortifications, housing, and farms in that order.

The new scholars are set to work on designing a new type of boat to be used on the coast of the lake near the capital.

Although most of the workers were sent eastward, a few remain, and those few are called to build defenses back at home.

The jakoguns have decided to create an scouting expedition for trading with other tribes and nations., and unlike the slavakian expedition, they put more effort into it, sending their scouts north on the newly made chariots.

Same old, same old here with slavakians.

Very helpful.  Thank you.

The negotiations have immense success in incorporating clans inland.  Some just agree to alliances or trade, though.  Those who are closer to the sea and thrive from its benefits ask for a higher offer to convince them that union or negotiations would be worthwhile.
Those Avalonian brethren that accept their invitation into the Union are welcomed.  Those that simply accept trade and/or increased diplomacy are treated with the utmost respect and honor and informed that the offer stands.  Those seeking further reason to do any of this are reminded of the economic and political stability within the Union, and if they fail to come around are not pressured further but assured that the Union bears them no ill will and hopes they come to see the merits of trade, diplomacy, and membership.

Efforts are made to bring the new members of the Union up to pace with the flow of things in as natural and organic a way as possible.  This is greatly aided by shared language, culture, religion, and values.  The transition is accompanied by many visits by clan heads of good cheer from those clans within the Union longer, to promote a shared sense of kinship, and a number of them bring their eligible sons and daughters.  Men are also sent through to assess the military position of the newly incorporated clans, and report their findings and recommendations to the Council, and politely make needed recommendations to those in charge, where beneficial.  Clan heads are encouraged to use part of their labor tax to build or improve roads connecting them to the rest of the Union, and granted an appropriate sum of Cesk from the Council's coffers to help compensate them for it, deliverable upon completion and favorable inspection.

To keep the new Clans happy, the Council goes to extra lengths to be transparent in its dealings to ensure that the new clans are as comfortable with its authority as the rest of the Union has come to be.

The jakogun expedition north starts. They except how 50 scout chariots should be fast enough.

Slavakians have started to research more about agroculuture.

Confederal Grand League:  The tribes and peoples near the settlement have put aside recent feuds to form a large confederacy to resist encroachment by the League.  Showing surprising levels of cooperation, they are amassing armies to reclaim the land.  [NPC : -5]

The League begins the steady deployment of its military to the colony. A portion remains at Zoko-Niskrenok for the sake of hegemony. Settlers are instructed to prepare for the siege's worst. The forest is rigged with traps, and the walls of the settlement are greatly improved. When the military arrives in solid enough numbers, they will destroy the gathering coalition.

The Senate gathers some lawmen to write some mock up designs for state-wide economic trade measures to help unify the incorporated peoples under one form of trading within the states.

For the mean time, Byartalena halts expansions and works on cheap improvements where applicable, and using slaves where possible to continue working on infrastructure.

Byartalena also still keeps its ears out for the raiding expedition to steal from and some of the copper boys to get them to teach them how to.

The empire accepts the trade, sending grain and coal to their ports in return for whatever they desired.

The SLTC picks up on this, taking advantage of the new demand by scaling up the trade of art and the raw materials used for making art.
Other nearby nations see the acts and works of the League and go, "nah maybe not" and relations begin to decline.

It is announced that for both national pride and military ambition, there will be annual marches throughout the tribes. Not in the fashion of occupationary force, but of course, in the fashion of parades and lyrical discourse.
Some people begin to criticize the resultant increase in taxes for such a flourish.  Some of them are reported missing or having been harassed by some of the more proud nationalists.

A third wave of settlers, now including veteran soldiers, sets sail for the colony. A regional military command hub is erected in a cob-reinforced wooden hillfort.
The third wave settles in.  A de facto military tribunal is set to rule over the colony.

The Grand Imperator continues to consolidate his title's authority.
The consolidation meets much success, however, resentment is beginning to show in the form of a failed attempt at the lives of the Grand Imperator's family when a carriage is attacked en route through the capital.

The coalition unfortunately gets the first strike and manages to do significant harm to the trap-laying force as it retreats, despite a fair number of casualties due to the traps that were set.  A retaliatory force, although incomplete, moves in to deal with the oncoming force and wipes out the force with unusually high casualties given the situation.  However, as the coalition dwindles away and reinforcements arrive, the eradication of the coalition forces is considered complete.  The colonial military tribunal enforces martial law over occupied areas, bringing the remainder of the island under complete control.

Byartalena tries to warn the elders that, the laws are in place for their protection rather than to simply encroach upon their culture.
The elders protest, saying that the promise was made that they may practice their faiths.

However, being of a germanic pagan faith, the lawmen gather and begin simple rewrites of their own laws.
When these laws are secretly passed, the elders hush up and are content.

The restrictions on the market allow for prices to not spiral out of control, as they had begun to do, however have still risen to three times what they were before the ten years worth of market and legal conflict.

An unexpected result is that a few government surveying ships are attacked by drunken angry sailors.

When news of the tribes to the east with copper is heard, there is a gather of warbands to head in the direction to find and try to subdue them and take their learned men for themselves. What is yours is mine, right?
The enemies encamp against each other and try to negotiate terms and offer to trade copper for whale oil and salted fish and also for a neutrality pact.  Borders are to be mutually respected.

The Senate gathers some lawmen to write some mock up designs for state-wide economic trade measures to help unify the incorporated peoples under one form of trading within the states.

The suggestion of a unified, minted currency is brought forth.  Two camps have arisen in the Senate.  One advocates for it, saying that the economic unity it will bring will stabilize the region and be a great long-term measure for continued economic growth.  The other camp opposes it, citing that many different regions have different methods, sometimes different currencies, and say that applying a currency to the system as a whole could underestimate and overestimate property value in different areas, thus making the system unreliable.

For the mean time, Byartalena halts expansions and works on cheap improvements where applicable, and using slaves where possible to continue working on infrastructure.
This effort helps to improve the interior by making trade more reliable.  In short amounts of time, tax revenue begins to rise back up.  However, due to decreased funding of the military, the eastward expansion project has lost steam and may have to settle for negotiations.

Byartalena also still keeps its ears out for the raiding expedition to steal from and some of the copper boys to get them to teach them how to.

When the leaders receive word of such a discovery, 3 other ships are filled with supplies and an appropriate amount of military supplies, before they are shipped off to the Northern lands to colonize it.
A storm hits the fleet at sea, damaging only one ship by cracking it's hull, but as a result of water leaking into a compartment of grains that expand with moisture, the hull bursts and the ship sinks.  Most of the crew and some of the cargo is saved.  The ships land to the north and are met immediately with the charge of dozens of cannibals clad with various skins, furs, and bones, and armed with spears and axes.  Archers from the boats fire a volley before warriors jump off the decks to attack the savages.  The savage attack is stopped.  Scouts see a number of onlookers in the midst of the forest peering at them and fleeing back through the forest.

The colonizing force is only 113 strong.

The empire accepts the trade, sending grain and coal to their ports in return for whatever they desired.
Trade begins henceforth and results in a new economic boom to the region.

Two great houses and the land tenants give way.  Others remain independent, but watchful.

The measures are received with enthusiastic cooperation.

To keep the new Clans happy, the Council goes to extra lengths to be transparent in its dealings to ensure that the new clans are as comfortable with its authority as the rest of the Union has come to be.
The clan heads enquire about a demi-senatorial system where clan heads are represented to represent the national government.  They ask if the nation as a whole might partake.

The jakogun expedition north starts. They except how 50 scout chariots should be fast enough.

The Alardian contact group sees the chariots riding north and is alarmed.

Erinaum makes its move and as secretly as possible contacts Tumokit, and form a contract with them to assassinate clan leaders of Belenia and its closer satellites, particularly old ones with many potential heirs.  Vünist elements in Belenia and its satellites are persuaded to support contending heirs.

An BCU-wide para-secret police organization is formed to investigate and destroy counterintelligence, smuggling, illegal immigration and assassination attempts.

The BCU is reaffirmed, giving greater representation to clans and kingdoms.  The blood caste system is disregarded in governance, seeing that healthy unity should come before traditional and antiquated divisions.

Also disregard one "Other" vote.  I accidentally pressed that when I meant to say Indifferent.
