from 1991 to 2014, apple was paying taxes at a rate of 0.1%. from 2014 until now, it is 0.005%. (for comparison, irish corporate taxes stand at 12.5% and the united states is ~25%). this is thanks to ireland who was providing apple with state-sponsored cash injections with the intention of lowering their corporate tax rate and in exchange for increasing jobs in the country. despite ireland's involvement, however, the EU ruled in favor of ireland; in that, apple should REPAY ireland the money it should've been paying through taxes.

the united states has warned the EU not to collect on the massive bill, but we'll see how this plays out.

lol its the start of another revolutionary war

so let me get this straight
apple evaded taxes and basically owes money but when confronted on this and demanded that they pay they get loving ass blasted and the us backs them up

it's because iPhone. get with the times man

apple has a networth of $624 billion they can afford it.

If a corporate giant of 600 something billion can't afford 14 billion then something is wrong here.

I hate how a lot of times the law is supposed to be used so cut and dry. Not every situation is the same.

world war 3: the return of tax evasions
