skyrim has one of those soundtracks that's kind of good but you just never really hear any more than a few battle themes and ambient songs
I think that all depends on what you view as a "good" soundtrack. Would a truly 'good' soundtrack have a decent mix of different types of music? Or could it be really amazing at one thing instead?
Personally, I'd say that Skyrim has some of the best ambient music out there, and for what the game is, it works really well. Skyrim is heavy on the exploration and visiting different locations, and all the ambient music (especially the tracks dedicated to specific areas) really support the game on that front.
I guess you
could fault the soundtrack on the lack of combat music, like you mentioned. It's really kinda funny that it has so few combat tracks, honestly. With the game's story and many of the mechanics revolving around combat, you'd think they'd have more in there. I mean
at least they could have had a final boss theme in there.
