Can I shoot someone with blank rounds?

Me and classmates are working on a short film for one of our classes. One of the scenes will be me shooting someone. I could either go with boring old airsoft gun with cheesy gunshot sound or I have the option to shoot someone with a blank .380 cartridge.
We all agreed this would be a cool idea, but is it safe? We will be equipped with ear protection and glasses.

Blanks use paper or plastic wadding to seal gunpowder into the cartridge, and this wadding is propelled from the barrel of the gun with enough force to cause injury if the weapon is fired within a few feet of the body should it strike at a particularly vulnerable spot, such as the temple or the eye. At a close enough range, the effect of the powder gasses is similar to a small explosion

recording software that isn't professional (3 thousand dollar mic is professional) clips when a loud sound goes off. If you were to fire a regular gun vs an airsoft gun, the sound would be identical when picked up by the mic. Fire the airsoft on an isolated recording and overlap it with the regular audio, muting the regular sounds quickly while the shot goes off.
