Author Topic: who's gettin civ 6??  (Read 11945 times)

tbh I'll probably only get it when the complete edition comes out and goes on sale. Fireaxis games are always inferior to their predecessors until they get pumped full of DLC. Just look at Civ V when it first came out.

civ6 has actually been called the most complete civ at launch, so I'm excited for it. it essentially launches with everything civ5 complete contains.

there's really nothing it's glaringly missing except for the world congress and a diplomatic victory, but it releases with religion, trade routes, etc. so I'm totally fine not having that stufffest of a mechanic

civ 6 definitely seems like it will be breaking the pattern of poor civ launches

also totalbiscuit did a video on it if you like his thoughts on things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q9fAlfEh6I

That doesn't mean its more complete than Civ5+DLC, don't pre-order it, and don't fall for the "oh maybe this time they will do it right".

review copies have been going out, so actual gameplay is available for people to judge these things on, though it is an earlier build

I am looking forward to this, that's for sure.

yeah actually, it adds like giant squids and compass roses and stuff like that

i actually really like the art style, especially the leaders. i'm a sucker for bright, soft cartoony stuff and that's kinda the direction they've pushed it

i hope we hear more about modding though. they say they built this new engine from the ground up with modding in mind; if this gives modders a lot of freedom then that is excellent news and i would greatly look forward to the insane stuff people make
I don't really like the brighter art style but the map thing instead of the clouds blocking your view is really cool

The most praise I've heard is that It's going to have all of BNW's mechanics (trading/religion ect), has any other revolutionary things been announced?

as a person who's played with strategy games before i don't really understand this game. and by that i mean the timescale going as you play; does it progressively go from ancient times (chinese emperors with great walls and stuff) to modern times (big modern cities with starbucks)?

nonetheless it looks like a great game but i don't seem to understand from it

yes, it goes ancient to future

Goes from ancient, smash eachother with clubs, to slightly futuristic, well at least, Civ V was slightly futuristic, not entirely sure about the upcoming one, but one would assume the same for that.

There are quite a lot of changes that will impact gameplay greatly from major things like the civics tree/tech tree split, districts, housing, and worker changes to small changes like requiring two moves to move up a hill. There are lots more examples of new and changed things but I'm at school so I can only list off things that I remember.

unstacking the cities is the major one, new engine supposedly built from the ground up with modding in mind, changes in ai, changes in diplomacy, civics is a new research tree and social policies have been completely reworked, active research allowing you to boost research by accomplishing tasks, change in how great people work to some kind of global market??, amongst other things, yeah, a lot is different

on the civ youtube channel they have videos trying to go over the new stuff, including some streams of them just playing the game for a while with commentary about specific features

It looks cool, but if it follows the Firaxis DLC model (make a decent game, then release the DLC to fully flesh it out) then I'll probably wait for that DLC.

If they've managed to de-lobotomize the AI, I miiiight get it on release if I know other people who are getting it.

Oh, yeah, I remember those now, could be really cool.

Yeah, i'm gonna probably wait until a sale or something atleast, if I could pick up a 4 pack for like £40 or something then I could start fresh with some friends, because nobody likes going up new against a 500 hour guy
