There is 9 billion people on the planet and us 9 billion people are the reason we have so much carbon in the air because the demand for the basic needs of life is greater than the supply.

is that based on a census or something? I don't know much about global pop counts, but I've always felt that they aren't always inclusive somehow.

There is no difference between 7.4 billion and 9 billion. The loving fact is that 7.4 billion is causing over population issues such as depletion of resources and other stuff.

Estimates are that we won't hit 10 billion for roughly 30 years, so for you to say we're at 9 billion today is ridiculous.

9m is 120% the size of 7.4

that's 20% more people

on the other hand, according to the UN, we'll be at about 9.6 million by 2050
