Author Topic: Eon - 'research' shocking + nuisance  (Read 23231 times)

A decent and insightful post will firmly imply your stance. There's no reason to make yourself look like a moron by saying some phantom command.

"/support this guy is a loving richard" is literally the exact same thing as "/support" except you put more than a second's thought into it
the drama section isn't a democracy, we're not signing a petition to banish someone from the internet. 99.9% of the time you can easily tell who's in the wrong and just saying "the accused is an starfish" contributes a whole lot of nothing to the topic considering it was obviously restated time and time again in the op
I wasn't talking about the single-line /support posts though. What I was talking about were the /support posts with actual reasons and explanations as to why they support it or don't. Such as "/support. From what I've seen how this guy acts around the community and game, he is a very toxic user and he should be banned or just leave."

Plus, putting a reason with the /support or /nosupport is better than none at all.

my bad, i had assumed that you were defending the former considering that you make both kinds of posts a bunch

actually, it's not better or worse. it's literally nothing.

Did you read the entire post? I even included an example of what I was talking about, aka an insightful and firm post where the only difference is the /support, which is basically a short way to say "I support this" or "I don't support this"

can you really trash on them for doing it? they could have a million valid/invalid purposes as to saying /support as i've said in a previous post, a purpose of saying /support could mean an acknowledgement.

i only see a little bit of a reason why people say /support and i think it's okay to do it. people saying /support shouldn't be lynched or called out only because they add nothing of value to it, because saying /support does add value to acknowledging OP in one perspective of others in this forum.

people aren't really doing anything wrong with it and they have the right to say /support or /nosupport with their info or not. it may as well be cunty or irritating but it's not exactly rule-breaking.

correct me if i'm wrong

nonono i think you got the wrong implications from my post
i don't usually call people out for saying that, however when the subject is brought up i don't hesitate to put my argument into the mix

In both instances we can clearly understand the writer's position against said user being called out. Saying /support literally does nothing.

it's my mistake for implying then, sorry

but my points do still stand though, and then again, correct me if im wrong

I understand what you're getting at, but with a statement like that, having a /support or "I support this" or "/nosupport" or "I don't support this" would help clarify their stance on the matter.

Without at least some statement or phrase saying their stance, their statement could be taken as a support or not, just a personal bias against the said user, or something else, it'd just up to the reader to determine for themselves and assume instead of a clarification so everyone would know exactly what their stance is

Imho I don't think there's anything wrong at all with using /support basically because it's just a shortened version of "I support this," and calling people "morons" for using it is just kinda petty, unless if their post was trash or contained nothing other than the phrase

i don't really see an instance where a user saying /support would be used as an acknowledging phrase except if said user was somehow involved, in which i would hope that they would provide something more than an acknowledgement

it's just a pet peeve of mine for a person to add pointless fluff to something, i can see how your viewpoint can be defended but i still stand in that it's unimportant and irritated

i personally see people doing it lots of the time, and i wasn't exactly saying it was rule-breaking spam, just that it was substantially dumb

I don't mind if someone says /support, They support the op and contribute to the topic by showing if someone agrees or not in a 3rd person perspective. It's a easy way to know what direction your drama is going to go.

What I do mind is when someone says /nosupport. Most of the time when someone says /nosupport they make one or two vague sentences explaining why. If you disagree with a drama, you should explain why. Or atleast quote another guy who already typed up the same reason why you don't support the drama.

If someone just says "/support" or "/nosupport" it will not make sense to me because I believe there should be a reason to why they believe what side they choose.

lmao /support is the same as /nosupport but /nosupport means you disagree.
