Do you consider it abuse tho? You said hitting your kids is abuse, so I am just wondering
spanking = hitting = abuse

forget's it matter

dont hit your kids, people

forget's it matter
yes: abuse is hitting your kids
discipline is finding non-violent ways to show them how to behave
Clarification, it isn't a hard question

inh why do you always try to get as far into semantics as you can

because he was abused as a child

no but it's a loaded question. you know what my answer would be so we can just skip to the big arguing point you're trying to get at

I'm just curious as to if he considers spanking abuse or not? I don't really consider it so but I'm curious to hear his point of view?

My point is I'm curious to your stance on the subject. Since you think hitting your kids is abuse, do you consider spanking abuse as well? Wtf it isn't a hard question and I'm legitimately curious. I'm not even trying to argue about it, it's a sincere question over your stance on the subject.

Anybody who thinis spanking is abusive is sheltered

anyone who says anything is a A+ certified DOO-DOO head in my books.

okay then bru. yes it is
anything that teaches your children that violence is a way to solve problems is abuse

good to know you support abuse, dude

Ah alright, that makes sense

I'm mixed on the spanking thing myself, I side with you on how just plain hitting your kid doesn't solve problems, but I also think that if you must do it, after / before you do it, explain to the kid exactly why you're doing it and tell them what to do in the future to prevent it from happening again

It's not the best type of discipline though, it can seriously mess up kids

how the forget do you explain why you're hitting them like i'm an incompetent parent and the only way to get you to shut up is to instill fear towards me within you
this turns from 'i shouldn't do this because it's bad' into 'i shouldn't do this because mom will hit me again'

"Do you know why you're getting punished? Because X and Y. I'm only doing this to help you learn how to act right in the future, I'm only doing this because I love you" or something along the lines. Some parents do this when they give out their punishment to their kids so they know what to improve to prevent from getting punished
