Author Topic: Fallout MEGATHREAD - We got a chupacabra with an automatic weapon.  (Read 42121 times)

the new fallout devs thought it would be a good idea and it's basically fanservice and nostalgia to call him dogmeat

Sure, maybe they could have gotten away with it in Fallout 3, but loving Fallout 4? Come the forget on.

Fallout 2's dogmeat was for nostalgia purposes but at least he wasn't canon.

Dog companions in the fallout series:

Fallout 1
Dogmeat

Fallout 2
K-9
Robodog
Pariah
Dogmeat (not canon/easter egg)

Fallout 3
Dogmeat

Fallout New Vegas
Rex
Roxie

Fallout 4
Dogmeat

It just looks silly when you look at 3 and 4 and see the only options are "dogmeat" lol

What next? Will there be a dogmeat in Fallout 5?!

The original dogmeat died at Maraposa. For  bethesda to claim that his offspring traveled from the west to the east and they all coincidentally become named "dogmeat" is just loving absurd and bad story telling.

tony do u ever think u take games too seriously

tony do u ever think u take games too seriously

These kinds of games with these kinds of stories are no different than a book.

Just because it's a game that doesn't mean the story/lore is irrelevant.

I don't play Fallout so I can loving shoot some baddies with my loving junky pipe rifle. I play it for the story and the story Bethesda has been pushing is loving garbage.

its fan service, i wouldn't call it a bad sign of story telling. It just like how the .223 pistol came back as the 5.56 pistol/That Gun in fallout nv

But that's a gun, it's not an animal that has been named dogmeat for about 200 years worth of generations. Named by random strangers who all coincidentally come up with the name "dogmeat" lol.

the same "coincidence" could be said for the drug Jet, how can a prewar drug be reinvented later with the same name, method of injection, and the same basic effects. Its just fan service, no need to brood over it

It's not like it's descended from the Dogmeat from the original game. Get your head out of your ass.

I mean, that's a fairly legit lore inconsistency though. Insignificant, sure, but it is real. Dogmeat is just a meme, there's no lore inconsistency here. It's actually just an easter egg. Let's not lose sight of things though - Tony's trolling as always.

Hmm I don't know, maybe because bethesda's Fallout 3 forgeted up the lore on jet?

Just another reason why bethesda doesn't know how to make fallout.

Jet wasn't a pre-war drug but bethesda forgot that.

So thanks to Bethesda Jet is now a pre-war drug and the lore in Fallout 2 has been screwed up.

Which is the reason Fallout 3 is in the east anyways, bethesda didn't want to mess up any lore in the original games but they still managed to forget up.

Tony's trolling as always.

How am I trolling? Because I have an unpopular opinion that differs from the others who believe Bethesda is some god that can't do no wrong?

Bethesda games have been scraping at the bottom of the barrel to appeal to the lowest common denominator for years now. The degrade in quality is real.

Oh but that's okay, no matter how much bethesda sucks "mods will fix it" right?! It's the biggest excuse I've seen for Bethesda's lazy bullstuff. Mods don't fix literally everything, you know. It also enables Bethesda to be more lazy allowing them to release half finished products because they know the fans will just mod finish it for them.

In trying times like these, it's always reassuring to know that my opinions about video games aren't as unequivocally garbage as Tony's

Good job, you're the reason videogame devs now release unfinished watered down garbage and then sell parts of the unfinished game as DLC that should have been in the game since day 1 and then make money off loving modded content that should be free.
