do people still think linux mint is alright? or do they just roll with something else

Mint is good as an all around general use distro with it's pre-installed packages.
Also, I'm wondering, is Linux beneficial for very slow / low end PCs?

absolutely, especially on some lightweight distros like lubuntu or kubuntu, hell, debian will work

didn't elementary OS use to be some kind of mac OS style linux distro

i also remember some other one that had a pear, but i think that got DMCA'd or just removed?

Elementary OS was my second choice but I hear their software center is non-standard from the ubuntu one (since Elementary is built off of Ubuntu)
Is that a problem or does it still use the standard package manager..?
