Author Topic: [WIP RPG] Land Of The Wind | (What themes of Dungeons do you want? Page:7)  (Read 16491 times)

I don't have much to say about adding things in, but heres things you shouldnt do:

-DONT make quests with very annoying and tedious tasks to get an award (EX: Cut 1000 wood to get magic!)

-(maybe) DONT make it so you can lose a-lot (some is fine) of progress at some point in the game (EX: Losing inventory, losing progress on a very large quest

-you SHOULD make it save position upon leave

-Be smart about placements, don't make it impossible to find things (give like hints or signs)

-If you make a GUI, add a compass, that way NPCs can give directions by saying "South of ____"

-GUIs help alot, make one.

-Cater to good players, and somehow make good difficulty scaling

dino rpg
not even lying i'd play the forget out of that.
choose a dinosaur, and do what dinosaurs do, be it attack random dinosaurs, eat, defend friends, stuff like that

i like this idea, seeing as my suggestions largely revolved around their being pvp integrated into the server. no one will want to play pvp if it means theyre gonna lose a whole bunch of stuff when they die. items shouldn't be really expensive (why i suggested putting more of the player focus on managing ammo), and dying should really just drop your inventory at the most

This kinda goes against loot whoring though, if the items are super common people are gonna get bored going into dungeons to get better weapons. Items will still be expensive ( effort wise )

So elaborate on the G lmfao like where is it fam
Well, isn't that the point of the topic? To know what people would want in the G part of it?

you'd be better off googling "basic RPG elements" than asking blocklanders what their interpretation of fundemental game design is

happy to suggest changes but we're gonna need some actual concepts first instead of "it's an RPG because we said it's an RPG"

I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

There have been many blockland RPGs and all of them basically died. This topic is to see what the blockland community would like to see in an RPG / what they think is compelling.

I would really rather not like you in particular to suggest changes or ideas, because all you've done is bitched and whined about how this is an RP and not an RPG, or how an RP is the same as an RPG, or how you were complaining about the medieval roleplay server. The theme of the RPG is established, as well as some game components throughout the topic.

I do not need your opinion if you're going to be a stubborn prick that only wants to argue, thanks.
If you'd actually like to suggest things for this RPG without further idiotic questioning, please go ahead.

Will there be an easily accessible safe zone for players of all levels to meet and socialize in? Blockland RPGs I have played felt really lonely with everyone scattered everywhere

Edit: of course there needs to be incentives to return to the nexus, maybe a shop or crafting workshop?

Wew lad

I don't actually want to argue, I didn't even really care until Magus rehashed some dumb stuff, but I was kinda pissed off that I wasted my time writing out my concerns (about what, in my experience, causes servers to die) and just kinda got dismissed with some petty semantic word-politics about the difference between ''RP'' and ''RPG'' despite you having absolutely nothing to show for the latter and every flag pointing toward the former lol.

Like I was somewhat embarrassed that I mentioned 'character progression' and 'leveling up' because it's literally one of the most generic basic RPG elements you could possibly come up with, but then I realized it's like literally what you're asking for.

There have been many blockland RPGs and all of them basically died. This topic is to see what the blockland community would like to see in an RPG / what they think is compelling.

Leveling up player characters
Inventory system
Loot and loot system
Character customization
Persistent weapon and skill upgrades
Quests

The reason most Blockland RPG's, or well most Blockland concepts in general fail, is because they focus way too much on peripherals that don't add much to gameplay (like massive 200k brick maps that have been over a year in the making)

Pretty much this. One of the best bl rpgs out there was gamefandan's and it was simplistic and concise.

Which is why I'm asking the blockland community what they'd like to see an an RPG... Specifically gameplay...
