Author Topic: my rock candy xbox one controller killed itself, what's a good replacement?  (Read 2468 times)

the brown townog stick just kinda broke right the hell off suddenly, and i'm wondering what a good replacement would be. i play on pc, and i've heard all xbox one controllers are kind of fragile. should i go with the xbox 360 controller, stock xbox one controller, or something else? (i do have a ps3 controller, but is it even worth setting up that whole deal? maybe temporarily, but in the long term i assume not) im not playing dark souls with a keyboard and mouse

Don't abuse your controllers lol

i didn't, it just detached from whatever internal device was holding it on the gyroscope thing suddenly while i was using it. it might have done it when i wasnt even moving, actually.

Oh rip

But yeah an Xbox 360 controller should work just fine. Iirc windows has built in drivers on thr os made specifically for it

I've had my Logitech F710 for probably 3-4 years now and it's been through a ton of abuse and has never failed me. If I remember correctly it's usually 10 bucks cheaper then a xbone or 360 controller, though if you have the wireless adapter for the 360 you can have multiple controllers set up and play games with your buddies.

i dismantled the controller and found that the little plastic piece connecting the brown townog stick to the little metal sensor thing (listen i dont know terminology) and i know how to fix it in theory, but in reality i don't know that crazy glue will work very well. i'll leave the thread open for a little bit just in case there's a controller / alternative i haven't heard of yet

a ps3 controller actually is worth it. it takes like a minute to setup and you can make it function exactly like a xbox 360 controller.

i use scp toolkit for drivers since motioninjoy is basically malware and better ds3 requires motioninjoy :v

the steam controller is fun

I just kind of wish it somehow had a second joystick
but the two touchpads and amount of customization of controls is amazing

Yeah this

If you're fine with the learning curve and getting used to the thing, the amount of control-customization the controller has that you can take advantage of is just crazy.

Plus you can even use the steam controller with games that don't support joypad inputs too. If you launch steam in big picture mode and launch the game in particular, you can setup the controls in the steam GUI to make the joystick, touchpads, buttons and such to act like a keyboard press or a mouse movement or control, it's awesome. The steam controller is basically able to emulate a full Xbox 360 controller setup, mouse and all the buttons associated, and a full keyboard, along with activator presses (like double press, press and hold, turbo, etc) yes you can play BL using the controller, its fun

The only downside is getting used to using it and dealing with setting up controls tho, so it may not be your cup of tea

I put 1000 hours into Dark Souls 1 on keyboard and mouse, and beat all the others with kb+m as well.

pretty sure it even has enough binds to attempt something like blockland's controls

I literally have my whole keyboard bound 2-3 times just to try and fit everything in

Rock Candy Xbox 360 controller (or just a normal 360 controller)

It does, I use it to play BL all the time, I just need to work on the building controls
