Author Topic: Advanced Tacticality - Public Beta!  (Read 7402 times)

NOTICE!: This pack is still very much a work in progress, and some items may serve as placeholders for the real thing! All stats, models and characteristics are subject to change!

    Introduction

This weapon pack began as an idea back in mid 2013-2014, with a solution to weapon packs like T+T or HK, which use almost borderline and overexcessive clunky code. Sure, it served as a basis to many weapon packs that are really top tier nowadays. But for me, there was still something missing.

I envisioned a weapon pack that though seemed simplistic in nature, it would have the potential to be expanded upon, even by the most novice of modders. And even more so, have features that would raise it to the top tier rung, such as ammo carryoff, bottomless clips, ammo pickups, and the like.

I learned that doing the pack by myself would prove nigh impossible, and was thus abandoned. Nearly 2 years later, I looked back through the idea of it, and I considered doing this not by myself, but with others who would pursue a common goal. I looked around on the BL Forums, and also talked to anyone I knew who would be interested. And that was the start of the Advanced Tacticality Project. And with little than a few months of work under it’s belt, the core files of the pack are ready for public Beta testing!

    Credits!

Though a majority of us worked in between modeling, coding, and testing altogether, there were areas where they really shined the most, and I am grateful for their work.

    • Our Modelers - Conan (4928) and Pompmaker2 (33752)

These two are GEMS in their own right. They’re masters of their own craft, and have been excellent when it comes modeling. Though they have coded their own stuff (Conan with his various tool add-ons, and Pompmaker with his playertypes and tanks), they’re ”well-rounded” in their works in providing default-styled appeal to this pack, as is its purpose.

    • Our Coders - Visolator (20490) and Marios (200355)

Make no mistake, these guys know their stuff in Torque. Though Marios had began the ammo file, Visolator revised and reinforced it. Nevertheless, these two have worked with me on many an occasion on troubleshooting and syntax fixing. I cannot thank these two enough for being a major part in this, since if not for them, this project would never be a reality.

    • Our Alpha Testers - Lego Lad (22539), Squidbee (49258), and Potatoh (44572)

    And this guy ->[/list]

These guys helped make the pack work, and reported an problems or issues right back to us. And they did a damn good job at it. Even Squidbee, who at the time was working on his own gamemode, also stepped up to give a swing at this pack.

HK, which use almost borderline and overexcessive clunky code.
is it that bad? working with it is stupidly easy from my experience with the convenient value configs

I suppose it typically varies between person to person. In my case, what struck me as a negative for HK was it's lack of ammo, either having a bottomless clip or bottomless mags.

It's not a "public beta" if you have to apply

By public, I mean I'm opening this mod to those who are interested. But I need actual results if I were to let it go public.

Otherwise, there would be a bunch of people running around with a stable mod that isn't finalized.

HK has some of the cleanest and lightweight code of any weapon pack

Probably. But there hasn't exactly been an update in a long time.
