Author Topic: the homebrew thread - jailbreaking your consoles to freedom  (Read 10286 times)

Consoles have these anti jailbreaking software.

It wouldn't be there if they were cool with you jailbreaking their stuff in the first place.

The computer has never loving updated their software stuff. It has been dated since the start.

The difference is you are loving jailbreaking a machine that wasn't meant for homebrew.

a OEM windows computer wasn't meant to run linux, but people install it anyways

just because the console wasn't meant to do something, doesn't mean you shouldn't (again, unless it's piracy)

i like how you call it "anti-jailbreaking software" when in reality it's just security patches

also, people find workarounds, and if they don't people go back to older versions by either buying a new system or downgrading

i mean look at the 3ds, that thing has been shaken down to the bones for bugs, and we've got all the hacks we could want

homebrew communities don't stop when it comes to hacks and exploits. they just keep looking.

Or play the device like the developer intended.

i mean sure, if you're a CASUAL

on the topic of piracy does freeshop count as that or is it just an open source homebrew eshop

Sony has the right to brick your system once they catch you doing it.

freeshop does, that's why it got taken down by nintendo
homebr3w is a open source homebrew eshop however, so install that if you want various apps, games and utilities

Sony has the right to brick your system once they catch you doing it.

the correct term is ban your PSN account and the console from ever connecting
the statement was also made in 2012, and no proof was ever given, so..........

Sony can not only ban your account but literally brick your console.

If you at all ever jailbreak your system and sony finds out they will completely shut your console down,

If you at all ever jailbreak your system and sony finds out they will completely shut your console down,

do you have any proof that this has ever occurred? once again, this was merely a statement that people probably quickly assumed

I think the bigger question is, do you want a 300 dollar brick?

I think the bigger question is, do you want a 300 dollar brick?

no, i honestly think the better question is where is your proof

because i fail to believe that's going to actually happen from a 5 year old statement, from a 11 year old console

if you don't wanna go through the effort of getting freemcboot on your memory card, i'd recommend buying one with it already on it off ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FMCB-Official-Genuine-Sony-PlayStation-2-Memory-Card-with-Free-Mcboot-1-952-/221935815427 - black memcard, $9.99 + shipping

i got the red one. works excellently and this guy is definitely trustworthy. if you're lazy, buy from this guy
I was going to do this one day, but decided not to since I got a computer that can emulate PS2 games just fine, even upscale the resolution.

I also forgot that I was planning to homebrew my PS3 once I got the PS4, but funny enough, the system bricked itself one day while updating.
A completely unmodified console, bricked itself through updating.
Same thing happened to my 3DS. You probably have more odds having your console being bricked just by updating than homebrewing.

is it PCSX2? love that emulator, but i don't have a good enough vidya card to do all the upscaling

Yep, works like a charm for most of the games I played on it. Only real issue I ever had was maybe broken textures, or the screen being spaced out a bit ( I recall it being fatal frame that did it ) but they usually have workarounds for those games.
That's another reason I homebrewed my wii, so I could back the games up and play on my computer.
