Author Topic: thoughts and opinions on climate change/global warming?  (Read 5759 times)

Yes I agree. It is super far fetched.
(most climate scientists don't actually say our planet is at risk of a runaway greenhouse effect)

We are part of the eco system. If life becomes unsustainable then people will die out, emissions will go down, and nature will reset. C'est la vie.
The forget

It is, however, our duty as a dominant species of this planet to make sure our species survives for future generations to come. We cant just say "oh well.. forget it!" And if you're an environmentalist or whatever, then other species as well.

you can go ahead and be a nihilist, but your disdain for living is still going to cause harm to others, who aren't necessarily nihilists

Duty since when. Who says this our duty? I must have missed the memo.

I'm not nihilistic I just believe what I see with my own eyes. Currently I don't believe climate change to be an issue.

Contrarianism for contrary's sake. Nice.

it's kinda been our duty since our species "took over" per se.

as a highly intelligent, dominant species we have a responsibility to make sure the planet is in good condition to the best of our ability

I'm going to get back to this thread later after my class is done, but nobody here knows what the forget they're talking about from what I can see, just a bunch of autistic stuff throwing

wrong thread?

discussion has been rather civil and reasonable till you popped in

I'm literally majoring in environmental science. By autistic stuff throwing I meant "nobody knows what the forget they're even talking about but feels very strongly about it"

It

and I think we should be more concerned about it

So this is a thread asking for thoughts and opinions, and people are just jumping down people throats when they find out their opinions aren't in line?

it's more like people are just dumbfounded that you come off as a smartass better than the rest of us but dont seem to have much empathy towards others and dispute the validity or importance of whats pretty much scientific fact

i personally do believe in global warming, but i think it can be negated or countered, again with my "volcanoes and them spewing much more carbon than cars" statement, if they spew out so much, why havent we become a boiling gas planet millions of years ago? obviously its probably to do with the trees converting carbon into oxygen (or so it is told, some people dont believe that is so and im not sure about that anymore either). but i also think that trees arent the only thing that can stop it, i think carbon just eventually goes away with time.
