My right joycon was failing, or so I thought, the flatwire cable inside the controller was in an awkward position so it would shut itself off if too much pressure was pushed in that area (IE pressing the home button.) but after opening it up and closing the housing the joycon worked fine.

I'm surprised it did something.
Also I missed the salmon run because I wasn't level 4
