Author Topic: [RESOLVED] Need help port forwarding for private Unturned server (I'm using USO)  (Read 6515 times)

The guy's trying to give you advice and you're treating him like what just happened was his fault. Learn to use your computer, dude.
Well it is his fault, I followed his advice and did exactly what he told me to do and it disabled my internet access. I'm not mad at him, because it was probably a mistake on his part, so I do forgive him, but I need his help ASAP to get things working again.

I'm more pissed with my crappy setup i've got to deal with. The router has uPNP but it is not compatible with USO's uPNP software, so I have to port forward manually. I have been trying to learn how to port forward for the past seven years and I have had little to no success at it.

Router/Modem technology is such a pain in the ass

No one's telling us that we should have two routers, we don't really. It's just our modem emits wifi signals like a router does
Yes, you do. Your Comcast box is literally a modem and full-fledged router in one box

Is your other router plugged directly into the first port on the modem? This post tells me no:
The modem is located in our laundry room and the router is located in the family room. I can only plug the router in from the wall's internet cable socket.
So what I'm gathering here is you were unable to do one of the steps I said, proceeded anyways with the rest of them, and then got mad at me?

Can you move a computer down into the laundry room, plug it directly into port 1, and access it through there?

Okay so maybe then we do have two routers. The reason we have the linksys router is because the wifi signals emitted by the modem router are very weak and do not reach the bedrooms in our house, so my dad has the linksys router so that we can get strong-enough wifi to the rest of the house.

I can't plug anything into the modem router even using a computer, our laundry room is very small with no table room and the modem router is suspended from six feet up on the wall.

Should have just bought a wifi extender instead of a separate router. Waste of money and just causes issues.

Here's a picture of what the modem looks like by the way, so you can get an idea of what i'm dealing with. This was all Comcast's work.

I have to go to work in the morning so I don't have time to do anything right now as I need to sleep, so I will try to find a way to do what you suggested tomorrow Headcrab Zombie.

It's...kinda cramped, but other than that I don't see fault with it.

Except it his his fault, tho, because only partially followed what I said to do. What forgeted him over what the part he didn't do

Ok I am home from work now. I'm gonna try and get started on fixing our wifi somehow.

Ok so I can't plug a computer into the modem router's port. Only 2 computers we have in my house is mine which has no ethernet port and our desktop computer which I cannot feasibly in ANY way move to the laundry room. There is simply no space and no outlets for it to work.

I need another option.

On the phone with comcast. They are doing a factory reset of the modem.

Alright so my internet is back up and working again.

Here's what Comcast did:

  • They did a factory reset of my modem-router to get rid of bridge mode being on; also because there was a recent software update put out on the routers that made them unusable when bridge mode was activated.
  • They did a "DMZ" on the Modem-router, which they said means they removed its firewall so that I can get a connection through using just the Linksys router, since everyone is connected to the Linksys router anyway. That way the Linksys and Comcast routers do not have competing firewalls.
  • They said all I need to do to successfully host my unturned server is to port forward on the Linksys router, and it should then work.

I'm gonna try port forwarding on the Linksys router now. Hopefully it works.

The Unturned server is working now on my end! I'm gonna see if my friends are able to join...

My friends are able to join. Thanks to based Comcast for solving my problem.

Also, Headcrab Zombie, for the record, the agents at Comcast said that using bridge mode is a very bad idea, as that is known to shut down internet connectivity on some modems. Thanks for your attempts to help anyway, I know you meant well.
