I'm a bit dissapointed they didn't go with the Dreamcast-era Sonic, but this might actually be a good thing from a gameplay standpoint. If you're able to make a character that has special abilities, that means the game will be a bit more engaging than just holding the X button.

make it VR so you can become your ocs

sonic oc jokes aside this is actually pretty neat tbh

This was actually a genius move on Sega's end. Most sonic OC are just recolors of Sonic himself so now Sega can capitalize on all the autistic sonic fans from DeviantArt. Although that's implying that they don't buy every new sonic game anyway.

The classic sonic fans can have their classic-style game, and the deviantart sonic fans can have their OC game.
Sounds like good marketing to me.

But do they buy the DLC?
Specifically all the Deviantart special interest DLC?
if there's no diaper customization options i'm canceling my preorder
Yes... even that one...

I just hope the gameplay is actually fun

No chance in hell.
it looks exactly like sonic generations and that one was good

It doesn't matter, the game is already toast because they're focusing on a "Customisable Character" mechanic, which will no doubt be broken as all hell.

can you explain how and why

how do you know they're focusing on it and how is customizable characters possibly bad other than the whole sonic oc meme
