"For our sakes, I hope it isn't."

Daniel grunts at Ryde's mention of "action."  "Well, which one pays most?" he asked, looking in Elena's direction.

Daniel grunts at Ryde's mention of "action."  "Well, which one pays most?" he asked, looking in Elena's direction.

Elena approaches carrying a large white and black labeled bottle. "KSD" is inscribed on the label.

"Which what? Oh, um- Norum's pays less flat out, but if something happens there's hazard pay. The repo pays $3000 per head, but there's no bonus if anything bad happens," Elena replies.

She puts the bottle on the table. It is already half empty. Under subtext under KSD reads 'Kills stuff Dead,' and under that, 'Overproof Vodka, 190 Proof.'

"There you go Norum, something that will actually have an affect on you,"

She then puts a six-pack of cheap beer on the table.

"The guarantor is a used car guy by the name of Mike DeBasso, who wants it repossessed. This won't get us closer to the Doctor beyond paying for the lab work done on the stuff we took a couple days ago. It may lead to higher paying work down the line though,"

Those not at the meet-up receive a text with the gist of Norum's job offering.

"A man by the name of Marco Villacrés, a manager of Gauntlet Capital Group has some of the group's property held at ransom by Quo, who was contracted by a rival company to hold it. I was asked to carry a briefcase from their W. Midtown Central branch office to a Quo branch office in the Salus Quarter of Bay Bend to release the property."

"I didn't believe that only one pair of eyes would be safe for this mission, and so I would like some volunteers. Reward is $2,750 a head with a cap of $12,000 total. Increased risk payout is looking at $1,500 a head minimum, but negotiable and a $11,000 total cap. Our guarantor is Villacrés himself."

"Because of the chance of diminishing returns with the more we have on the mission, I will only be selecting the finest. Now I need you to both understand, Villacrés is not big-time, but I guarantee if we do well on this mission, we may have more serious connections, and therefore, we might presume, steps close to finding the Doctor."

They also receive a text with the gist of Elena's offering.

"The job I came up with is a car repossession. It sounds stupid, but bear with me. The repossession order is not fraudulent, but the repo crew, us, will be. Hell, a large minority of the towing companies here are frauds anyway. And the cops won't care. Before you feel bad, the guy losing his car keeps bouncing checks. It shouldn't be difficult, but it doesn't pay as well as Norum's,"

"The repo pays $3000 per head, but there's no bonus if anything bad happens,"

Papers of the repo order will be provided, as well as fraudulent papers that make us look like a repo crew. If we ask for a tow truck we might get one as well.

"The guarantor is a used car guy by the name of Mike DeBasso, who wants it repossessed. This won't get us closer to the Doctor beyond paying for the lab work done on the stuff we took a couple days ago. It may lead to higher paying work down the line though,"

"Oooohh finally." Norum enthusiastically takes the bottle of KSD, unscrews the cap and pours a shot, chuckling to himself. He screws the cap back on and sets the bottle on the table and throws back the shot, making a facial expression of near pain as it goes down, and slams the shot glass back on the table.

"Hwooo!... Good stuff."

Yeah, but this much is true. Elena's job only pays more if my job has no increased risk factor. Each job will have more information made available when meeting with each of the guarantors.

Daniel stops pacing to rest his hands on the back of a chair. "Well," he started, his fingers began to drum along the top of the chair as he chewed on the inside of his cheeks.  "As fun as the repo job sounds, I would like to get my foot in the door to the more professional world.  I think I'll go with Norum."

The drinking bit would have lasted longer if we had more people but lets get on with it.

Norum, Ryde, and Daniel converge the next afternoon at a small office in Midtown. The office is around six stories tall. Its exterior shows few signs of wear. The other buildings in the area are in good shape as well. 'Gauntlet Capital Group' is emblazoned above the door.

The three of you enter the building and are greeted by a man who introduces himself as Marco Villacrés and escorted up to a clean but rather plain conference room. Villacrés is a man of latino ethnicity, of medium height and medium build. His black hair is combed over and slicked with grease. He has a Balbo mustache and goatee, and is dressed in business casual for the occasion. He seems eager to get things moving.

The interior of the office is also clean, the place looks a bit empty but the employees are obviously in a hurry.

"Thank you all for coming today," Marco starts, speaking quickly and with a touch of Spanish accent, "Sorry to be rushing you, but we're in bit of a hurry here. A rival gang, Los Bastardos, hired some Quo to take down our servers here. Its in the interest of myself and one Mr. Dan Price that they be up and running."

He picks up two small briefcases and puts them on the table.

"We need you to take these to a Quo group-"

Villacrés taps at a tablet on the table for a moment. An address appears on the tablet. It is in Salus District, Bay Bend.

"-Here. These are important to our negotiations with Quo to free up our servers without having to negotiate with Los Bastardos. They cannot be opened by you, the Quo group already has a key file to get them open. One of the briefcases in a dummy. Los Bastardos have been watching this building and likely saw you come in. To my understanding one of you owns an air-bike, yes? I want to send the real case on the air bike, where Los Bastardos shouldn't be able to follow you. Also, we can draw them off with the dummy case before the air-bike leaves,"

He turns the image on the tablet so the group can see it better.

"The Los Bastardos might try to stop the dummy case. They won't hurt you, not here and certainly not in Salus, where the police are actually effective. Once you get to the office in Bay Bend, the Los Bastardos should give you absolutely no trouble,"

Villacrés points to Norum.

"Dan said you're the one to be trusted in this. I don't want the exchange to start until whoever has the real case arrives and you're there too. Don't let Quo try to badger you for anything more than we are giving them. This deal is already agreed upon. We are not giving you the power to negotiate with them. If Quo or Los Bastardos give you trouble, then we'll give you a little extra for all of your troubles but don't go looking for it,"

The man clasps his hand on the table.

"Again, don't go looking for trouble. Quo shouldn't give you any, and Los Bastardo's certainly shouldn't do something extreme unless they want Salus' gang task force all over them. If any of you get pulled over by the cops, be polite and keep a cool head,"

He takes a breath.

"Sorry to throw all of that at you so quickly. Any questions?"

"Yes," Norum replies, "I wanted to ask about the route. Do you want us operating on a prescribed route, such as to a different branch office, to confuse them?"

i return

Daniel turns to Norum after he asks the question, and makes a sort of pointing gesture, a pointless indication that he was going to ask the same thing.  "Yeah it's -- it's my bike, I'd like to be cautious with it, have you got a safe route?" he added on.

"Yes," Norum replies, "I wanted to ask about the route. Do you want us operating on a prescribed route, such as to a different branch office, to confuse them?"

Villacrés listens intently.

"I would advise going straight there, through Bay Bend. It should allow you to lose any Los Bastardos in the traffic. Don't worry about branch offices, head straight to the location, if you would,"

Daniel turns to Norum after he asks the question, and makes a sort of pointing gesture, a pointless indication that he was going to ask the same thing.  "Yeah it's -- it's my bike, I'd like to be cautious with it, have you got a safe route?" he added on.

"The safest route would probably be a straight shot there- following flow of traffic of course. Los Bastardos have no skycars to the best of our knowledge. The best they could do is call the police or something, which wouldn't necessarily do anything but maybe slow you down, and they should be drawn off by the ground group,"

The man straightens up.

"Does this answer your questions?" he asks sincerely.

Norum nods to having his question answered and intently listens in on the conversation, looking around at the others who seem either hesitant or are silent, "Yes, one final question. Would the contents of the real briefcase, if found by the police, result in certain incarceration?"

Ryde says nothing through the entire exchange, going over the plan in his head.

No further questions came from Daniel, as Norum seemed to cover every base.  Daniel leaned against the conference table, drawing shapes with his index finger as he listened to the conversation between Villacrés and Norum.

Norum nods to having his question answered and intently listens in on the conversation, looking around at the others who seem either hesitant or are silent, "Yes, one final question. Would the contents of the real briefcase, if found by the police, result in certain incarceration?"

"The short answer is no. This is far and beyond what a beat cop would be able to make heads or tails of,"

"Alright, sounds fine to me," Norum says, standing up and extending a hand to Villacrés.

"Alright, sounds fine to me," Norum says, standing up and extending a hand to Villacrés.

Villacrés shakes your hand.

"Best of luck, thank you," he says sincerely.

The group exits the conference room. Villacrés leaves to attend to other matters.

You can use this time to discuss any final details. Mission will commence imminently.
