Author Topic: runescape FpArGiGdOeT event  (Read 7233 times)

players have been permanently banned for being a part of the opposition and wearing white robes at falador. even when they said nothing at all; however, those that were in support in it and wearing rainbow afros and shorts did not recieve permanent bans, even though they were also saying some nasty stuff about other players.

what a tolerant event which treats everyone equally
ok now thats just forgeted up
people were handing them out and people were banned even though they didnt know about the kool kids klub symbolism

This.

When will people realize that shoe-horning LGBT promotion into their games just does nothing but cause mockery/piss people off? And to nobody's surprise, Jagex are dealing with this in the worst way possible.

the fact that people are this upset over this is crazy lol. game devs are allowed to speak out about their views on their own creation. you can not like it if you want, but don't be surprised when you get banned for doing stupid stuff. only way you can really spin this to actually being a problem is if you're mike pence in which case that's aight

why should a game like runescape receive an unrelated gay pride festival? the game is set in the medieval times, we shouldn't be bringing loveuality into this

it's set in a completely fictional universe not related to the real world, so i think it'll be alright

plus if it was in the medieval times, gays would be stoned to death

the problem is that the developers did not poll this update just so they could push their political agenda on everyone who plays the game. it's showing a decline in use for the poll system that has been used since day 1 of osrs as one of the developers wants to push his stuffty ideas on everyone.

the same developer had developed an entire quest with a replacement for the best in slot helm, but scrapped it after the community believed it could be different; he then nerfed the current best in slot helm in loving spite without a single poll giving him permission. osrs was meant to be a game where the community decided how it changed, not one greedy, over-emotional, gay developer who cares only for his opinions and nobody elses.

people are taking this into a "lol family men, am i right????" because that's what the whole situation looks like at an uneducated/uninformed glance.
both the players and the developers are doing an awful job at being presentable people, with the developers repeating robotic responses so they don't stir the pot even more (even though it's making things /so/ much worse) and the players going completely loving overboard with hate speech.

gay characters are fine when done right (don't make it their entire loving personality; runescape 3 did it perfectly by making a character gay, but only subtly hinting at it once during a quest, it wasn't a major plot point, just backstory for the character), but having an entire event to push your loving agenda without asking the community in your community oriented game is not ok in the slightest.
what this event is showing us is that jagex has full control over what goes in and they can skip the entire poll process if they feel like it, much to the disdain of the playerbase

edit - i should also mention that the damage control mod did heavily imply that the community has autism. image

ya if all this really represents is the fact that the community has been building up distaste for the devs for a long period of time and this is just the climax of it all, then that totally makes sense

I feel like if gamers want video games to be considered art they should expect it to often be political. There is no such thing as apolitical art - RS is just taking a particularly candid position.

Also it seems like this doesn't put any sort of burden on players who don't want to participate, besides having to see it when you walk through that area or whatever.

Gay people have existed for all of history + runescape has other anachronisms that no one bats an eye at (like the christmas stuff)
