one of the jmods is trying damage control
https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/6fnww4/pride_2017/
he's failing miserably.

this update was not polled and was forced through by the gay jmod, who also forced a helmet nerf which was also not polled
the gay jmod was from the rs3 team originally. he does not understand how things work in osrs.
they claim that this is a holiday event (which get free passes on the polls), since when was this a celebrated holiday?

i dont play runescape but holy forget

My sides are in orbit right now help

having trouble understanding why this is RS's problem. on the surface all i'm seeing is that they decided to do a pride month event, and then people spammed memes and anti-LGBT nonsense and it's somehow jagex's fault? i'm sure there has to be more to this than that, tho i don't see why polling is an issue for very temporary surprise events (that being said most of my runescape playtime was before they did community polling so maybe it seems more normal to me)

pride month is a pretty widely recognized thing, but it's defo not something i would've expected them to celebrate on RS. don't see why it would be a prob tho

the only thing that I can see being a problem is the fact that the mod that did this didn't have it polled in along with whatever balance update alongside it. I can see OSRS players being justifiably not happy about that part (Since before this pretty much every single non-backend change has been polled into the game), but not the fact that there is a pride month event in the first place.

right ok if there was a bunch of balance changes bundled in then those would defo need to be polled ya

post it in the RUENSACPE TREAHD!!

reading through it the problem is that players dont want to have to deal with real world stuff in runescape

I mean I'd be pretty annoyed if Overwatch got some "pride" event, because video games aren't the place for that stuff
EDIT: The memes coming from it are pretty great tho

theres already a pride event in overwatch its called overwatch

players have been permanently banned for being a part of the opposition and wearing white robes at falador. even when they said nothing at all; however, those that were in support in it and wearing rainbow afros and shorts did not recieve permanent bans, even though they were also saying some nasty stuff about other players.

what a tolerant event which treats everyone equally
