Author Topic: Roblox is stuff now and it's all because of Huffington post  (Read 17985 times)

Roblox does its best to make sure older games are not broken with new update. But it's not their fault if the creator didn't have a rock solid game or if they quit 2 years ago. This is simply how it is, you can't create a company out of nothing based around software and then build on to that software for over a decade and expect everything to always work. Nobody has done this because nobody can predict the future.

Erik Cassel and Shedletsky didn't have anything to do with today's roblox. They were just engineers.

"and piggyback off of major content creators."

You mean the people who make roblox possible with their games? That's what the whole company is. It isn't piggybacking. That's like saying Blockland is piggybacking off the people who host servers.
are you reading off a marketing/pr page or something? are you a roblox pr?
it sounds so fake and forced.

Answer the counter arguments I made, don't skip over them and claim conspiracy. I'm a developer for roblox that has been playing consistently since 2008, so I know what I'm talking about and know what is stuff(there are some things), and what is not.

This alone makes it sound unofficial and like you are just shilling for roblox. Some stuffty baby's first lua games don't drive the game around, as is the case for work in a pizza place and meep city and such.

Murder mystery and stuff barely require any code and are knockoffs of other games, but still get endorsed by roblox. Think about it.

I'm not a shill, so you can lose that excuse for when you hear something you don't like.

This isn't a triple A game company, it's a company with games made by kids-young adults. No one game drives the company, its the hundreds combined. Murder mystery in your opinion not requiring a lot of code is neither here nor there.

If these games were so easy to make then you should try your hand at it. Roblox has already paid out over a million dollars to the Murder Mystery creator. Put your money where your mouth is and make a successful game to prove how easy it is. You'll find it is not easy.

Seriously? The game is litterally a copy of gmod murder. You're dense, as expected of someone shilling for roblox and sucking their richard.

Lots of roblox games are rips of other games. What point are you trying to make?

and thats what I thought. You have no answers to any of the points I made because you haven't thought out your points very well. GG.

Roblox is inspiring people to rip things off. To plagerize. Is this not concerning to you? No, because you're a roblox shill.

Using an idea is not plagiarizing.

I pity you friend, hopefully you are young and not some 27 year old person that's this immature and paranoid.  Good luck.

You're 22 and you're saying plagiarizing is just using an idea...

doing the same thing as everything else may not be "plagiarizing" in the strictest terms but it is extremely detrimental to the community

think, if everyone were just making jailbreaks or murder mysteries and no one was breaking the mold would you still be playing ROBLOX?

Breaking the mold is pretty difficult when pretty much every game out there is a rehash of another game. Very few people are breaking the mold nowadays, on roblox or off it.

I play roblox because there are some fun games(original or not) that I enjoy and because I make a living off my game.

roblox is encouraging people to use the content creation platform to create fun games that people want to play. if people want to play murder mystery in roblox, and someone successfully fulfills that demand, they are rewarded for it. nobody on roblox becomes successful for lack of effort or interest, you still have to create an experience that people enjoy playing. people implementing design elements and ideas from other games is nothing new and it isn't plagiarism (you can't/don't really copyright or patent a game design concept anyways). this is called iteration, and it helps us move forward. the majority of gamemodes in blockland and gmod (and really, most games in a general sense) are based on designs that already exist. speedkart, any TDM, mafia madness or other games in the same vein, jail escape, gmod's TTT and murder, prop hunt, etc. are all implementations of existing ideas in a new environment, and people play them and enjoy them because they are fun to play, and people make them because they enjoy those experiences and want to bring them into an environment they enjoy working with, probably taking the opportunity to also add their own spin to make it theirs.

creating an enjoyable experience from square one is not easy, and people never do it. practically any game you can think of is based on things that came before it in some way, whether consciously done or not, because that's how any form of creative work is produced, and how a medium progresses as time moves onward.

Iteration drives everything, even the blockland community.
The problem is, these games are almost identical to their counterparts. Roblox games benefit off of youtubers who do roblox and other games like gmod (Like VenturianTale, for example) who play the gmod versions and then the roblox versions. Kids realise that this version is identical to the other version and play that one, making roblox $$$.

I would be fine with it if it wasn't a complete ripoff and brought something new to the table besides variable knives and other stuff that's practically useless. Otherwise it's just GMod murder.

"Roblox games benefit off of youtubers"

False, youtubers have done and are doing little for roblox. They became big before youtube gave a stuff about roblox.

if anything youtubers benefit from roblox, have you seen channels like bereghost?
