Author Topic: I'm having serious problems with my dorm room (things get complicated)  (Read 11624 times)

I've never seen someone struggle this much with a dorm room lol

yeah I'll admit I've been a little obsessive over it though I really wish that I had a room with AC so I wouldn't be

speaking of which another night where I didn't sleep well

I would be miserable ihmo It's already stressful enough going away and having to live with a stranger and do all your work and then that stuff

mmm mmm mmm college drop out here i come

take that and make it two strangers, a cramped desk you can't do work on, and sleepless nights and there you go

Where is your college located?
I go to college in New York and there's no air conditioning here. But the last week of August in upstate New York isn't that bad.
Yo which, I go to RPI

IDK if I've mentioned this but the internet in this dorm is especially loving appalling.

I'm literally at two bars at most the entire day. The internet cuts out for no reason (that includes the wired connection that they tout as the quick gamer connection for gamers) at least once every couple of minutes, I try playing Dark Souls and it randomly throws me into offline mode just as I'm rearing to face Ornstein and Smough with some phantoms, and chrome literally loving freezes for like ten seconds every 30 seconds or so. loving Google Chrome. FREEZES.

To put this in perspective, typing this one post, chrome froze about four times, plus the internet went out twice for at least a minute each time. I have seven tabs open. loving child's play on my home network and in my freshman dorm, but here it's as though it's 200 tabs or some stuff. This is literally my second time typing this post because the internet is so stuffty that my first post got erased with the internet and then when it came back up I was, for some reason, making a new topic.

I am now actively asking people from the sophomore AC dorms if people are moving around. People are supposedly "rushing fraternities" this week, which I don't know what that means (I'm not a frat guy), but if that means they may move to live in a frat house, that's my chance. Anything that makes it easier to find a god damn room is now alright with me. I'm probably going to talk with the community director about my situation over the weekend, too.

night something or whatever, same as the rest

had to go to the library to work on homework because the internet was so stuffty in here

I'm gonna probs talk to the community director tomorrow

this is the worst internet I've ever seen, I don't know if I'm emphasizing that enough

chrome crashed with two tabs
TWO

and the connection now is just a loop of "internet goes out -> chrome freezes -> try to go on phone, no wifi -> chrome freezes again -> internet comes back at one bar for five seconds before going out again for five minutes

you can't do anything in this room except sit and twiddle your loving thumbs like you're living in the sixties

have you tried turning your dorm off and on again?

dare you to do a speedtest and post the results.
i'm curious to see just how stuff it is

how does the internet correlate with chrome crashing and freezing?

I posted in the ookla test thread, it's pretty fast (when it works)
it's like that one kid in class who does none of the work and gets A's on all his tests

how does the internet correlate with chrome crashing and freezing?

I don't know but all I know is that it started loving up when the internet went to stuff

I just met with my calculus teacher and talked about academics

upon bringing up the housing situation and how I might be switching forms she informed me about how my poor sleep and internet situation might be a potential grade-crusher, which I already knew, so it was great hearing it from someone else

she recommended I talk to the community director ASAP, so I will definitely be paying her a visit tomorrow

I swear to loving jesus christ almighty lord and motherloving savior I am one post away from full-caps key-smashing

this internet is worse that 90s AOL I am going to loving destroy something

someone just told me that there might be an empty single on the first floor of one of the premiere sophomore dorms, practically right next to the engineer building

if that is true, then that room is MINE
I've already emailed the community director about setting up a meeting, if she doesn't reply today then I'm walking right into her office tomorrow and I'm getting myself that room (if it exists)

this is the hardest time ive seen someone have adjust living away from home lmao
relax bro
