Right when this thing was announced, I called it:

Place your bets on this being a crowd funding scam.

And here we are today: http://www.thegamer.com/atari-box-console-crowdfunding/

Will any company ever pay for their own stuffty product development ever again or is the future of consumerism dependent on duping an infinite supply of suckers?
What will be the fate of the Atari Box?

remember when atari was renound for making the first ever video game, Pong? sad they sink this loving low.

Quote
Pong is one of the earliest arcade video games and the first sports arcade video game. It is a table tennis sports game featuring simple two-dimensional graphics. While other arcade video games such as Computer Space came before it, Pong was one of the first video games to reach mainstream popularity. The game was originally manufactured by Atari, which released it in 1972. Allan Alcorn created Pong as a training exercise assigned to him by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. Bushnell based the idea on an electronic ping-pong game included in the Magnavox Odyssey, which later resulted in a lawsuit against Atari. Surprised by the quality of Alcorn's work, Bushnell and Atari co-founder Ted Dabney decided to manufacture the game.

wasnt the first video game tennis for two

Remember the first time Atari destroyed video games?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_crash_of_1983
to be fair they aren't actually the same company, when the original atari went bankrupt someone else bought up the brand ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari#As_a_division_of_Hasbro_.281998.E2.80.932000.29 ). the current owners are still stuff though, releasing classics such as asteroids outpost https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ_I9-CkzDE&t=3m40s

I don't see this going well

I doubt there are too many people who are jumping at the chance to play Asteroids again, and Atari will have to show me that they can make good modern games before I'll believe it

if they're just rereleasing old atari games again then no one's gonna buy it lol
what we want is an HD remaster of tetris and the ET game

it would be technically impossivle for Atari or other company to get into the console market lol

i guarantee this is going to be like the ouya
disappointing and forgettable

Remember when atari dumped their terrible games in a landfill?
