ah yes. prescription medication: the cause of all gun violence.

is that comic supposed to be blaming these kinds of mass shootings on pharmaceutical companies?

shotguns and hunting rifles
Hey HEY

Handguns too. I like handguns the most and I want them. No Australia stuff allowed.

fine but just one.

why would this not work in the US? how is taking military contracts and making some shotguns and hunting rifles on the side for civilian purchase after a safety test and mental evaluation not sufficient?

Have you ever bought a gun? I live in GA which has some of the most lax laws in the country. I still have to fill out a 4473 and wait through a background check every time I buy a gun. I need to bring identification so I can prove I live in Georgia as well and not some other state with tighter gun laws. If I ever told anybody at my highschool that I was suicidal I wouldn't be allowed to buy the gun. If I hit my ex 5 years ago and got a restraining order for it I wouldn't be allowed to buy a gun. Even with my crystal record I cannot buy an automatic rifle. I cannot buy a handgun for another year because I'm only 20 years old.

The majority of people killing other people in the US are not mentally ill. They're not educated. They're unemployed desperate people peddling drugs, killing each other with illegally/cheaply manufactured handguns. I don't really know much about Japan, but I'm going to take a wild guess and assume there's probably not many drug infested ghettos over there. If you want an actual decrease in gun violence, the logical first step is educational reform in low income communities. This will never happen because when poor people become educated they will get jobs and stop voting liberal.

I don't think anyone has a problem with tighter mental health evaluation. I think the majority of people just don't think it works. The majority of actual Hardcore Gamers who weren't acting of political volition stole their guns off their mentally crystal parents. I don't think you'd find much resistance to laws mandating higher security requirements for storing weapons or evaluations including the state of their children. The problem is that liberals are not pushing for this kind of reform. They're targeting the ebil and scawwee guns because it's easier to scare people than it is to educate them.
