What about that one guy who made a tweet with 3,000 characters or something? When will Twitter make that a real thing?

yeah it was a staggered roll-out, but it's out for everyone now.

the reasoning was that japanese speakers, for example, can convey way more than english speakers on account of many single kana/characters can be entire words so they can say way more than us in 140 characters. it's always worked out fine there so they decided they'd let us in on that stuff.
