The only thing that I'm willing to buy with respect to cryptocurrency are the 'blockchain-as-a-service' projects. Bitcoin and ethereum are highly speculative and will definitely crash in a dot-com style fashion. Maybe not for awhile though, since that bubble was about 10x bigger than where crypto is at right now.

ETH is the core of blockchain-as-a-service altcoins. almost all service-focused coins/tokens are on the ETH blockchain

For some reason I'm using minergate and mining monero but it's really slow, less than 200 H/s, but it rated my system 4 stars. Is it because I'm not overclocking? Also for some reason it's making me merge mine fantomcoin, and I don't want to mine that stuff, it's not worth anything.

Ah, I thought it was just a means-of-exchange for websites that don't want to do USD/altcoin exchanges.

Yeah, it's probably good to do some research if you're at all interested in this stuff. Bitcoin whitepaper   Ethereum whitepaper, which also goes into some depth on how bitcoin works and how ethereum expands on it

These are currencies, not stocks. To buy some you go to an exchange that operates in the currencies you want to receive and buy with. Kraken and Coinbase are two examples of major US-based exchanges that deal in cryptocurrencies. You should also read up on what cryptocurrency really is as well.

Where do I go to find exchanges? Are they at stores or is it strictly online?

Whats this about
bitconnect was some garbage crypto Ponzi scheme that a bunch of people bought into. people who started it shut it down and are ‘refunding’ everyone’s coins (which will be worth nothing) eventually

That's a fair point. The amount of money I have in this is pretty insignificant, so if it pays off really well, I'll be happy, but otherwise it's no big deal. I don't have enough free time to gain the knowledge needed to be an actual 'crypto trader', and I don't have very much faith in the market either.

That being said, if I'm spouting BS, feel free to tell me and I'll correct myself.

Is someone going to help me?
